The Blue Angels flyover was cool as fuck. Buuuuuuut. Aviation regulations and such seem like one of those things that were written in blood. Making it a political thing is stupid and immature.

That flyby was too low. Despite it being cleared publicly, I sincerely hope there is a serious discussion behind the scenes. Yes, it was cool. Yes, I would have loved to see it in person… but that doesn’t change what it was: either a mistake or an error in judgment. A fluctuation of just a degree or two at that altitude would have led to disaster. The lives that could have been lost on that beach would have been in the hundreds. I love aviation, as I’m sure those of you following me do as well. There is a level of professionalism that needs to be maintained, or we will see a disaster unfold in 4K that will more than likely change airshows for a forever.

The collapse of US military discipline (a cornerstone of any military’s effectiveness), as uniformed commanders are undercut by whooping frat-boy civilian ‘leaders’ in search of clicks, is curious to behold. Yet another reason for allies to trust only in their own capabilities.
Hey, Dave!@davegreenidge57

The decibel level of F 18 hornet at 50 feet doing a low pass is around 130 dB. The threshold of pain for human hearing is 110 dB. There were children clutching their heads and crying after this.

They're going to keep doing this until they accidentally 9/11 a NASCAR event with an AC-130, then spend 100 million dollars getting an army of groypers to post that the pilot was probably trans

Dramatic video shows the U.S. Navy Blue Angels making a low-altitude flyover above Pensacola Beach, Florida, on Wednesday. Navy officials confirmed in a statement that Blue Angels leadership is "reviewing the circumstances surrounding the maneuver and conducting a thorough safety review.” abcnews.link/wxR8vXz

There is already a spirit of daring and brashness among military aviators. It’s honestly a job requirement. Have I done on-the-edge shit in a Tomcat? Sure. Was it against “the rules?” Absolutely. But it was NEVER around or over groups of civilians. Never over population or civilian structures. Low pass over some Marines who were working me as a CAS asset on a military range after the mission was done? Sure. The occasional cargo train in the middle of the desert? Yeah. That’s totally different than these last two VERY public incidents caught on camera. Hell, even ON a base there are limits. I was working a missing man flyover onboard NAS Oceana. We were burying “Ernie” Sides. At the TOT, the Bullets (VF-2, Ernie’s squadron) roared over the crowd at MAYBE 200 feet. The fiancée and parents almost fell out of their chairs. Way not cool. The point is that there are limits. Hotdogging low over civilians is just poor headwork and bad judgement. You can’t convince me otherwise. The risk is too great for the paltry reward of “looking cool.” You already ARE cool; you’re a military aviator. And leadership cheering it on is not smart. There is always someone who’s going to try to “beat the record” for “cool”, especially if leadership overtly green-lights it. The only outcome in the race to out-cool everyone is ultimately disaster.
Just a RKT guy.....@barnacles71

I've seen enough from the mutuals who were sorta "hot dogs" say this isnt so good yeah, its cool, love it, but maybe we should consider that when the "hot dogs" say it isn't ok, it just might not be ok @thestinkeye @WMcluskey please add commentary if you feel it's necessary

Look, we all love low flying, and as a massive aviation nerd it must’ve been unbelievable to be on that beach…. However, I like most people would like to get off said beach. This is not me dissing the pilots skills. But lots of skilled pilots make mistakes. There are rules around air displays for a reason. This is not a left vs right or whatever issue. I’m not sure anyone is even calling for the pilots to be sacked. But they should receive and almighty bollocking to make it clear that risky shit like this isn’t acceptable.

This is the Military that Pete Hegseth is encouraging. The Blue Angels are some of the most disciplined pilots in the Navy. For them to do this is unheard of. That last pilot broke every rule in the Blue Angels rule book and likely FAA guidelines. That pass is easily below 500 feet and likely even as low as 150 feet. Very dangerous and very unlike the Blue Angels.
