@HowieRose He’s my favorite, Ron Swoboda was before Tom. My uncle took me to 1st game at shea and in 65 when I was 61/2 Ron was first Met I remember hitting a HR. In 67 when I played little league I wore 14 because of Ron. He changed to 4 because that was Gil’s number.

I’m not privy to specifics, and I’m sure that you think I’m shilling for ownership or exaggerating the truth, but please trust me when I tell you that this is real. The emphasis on family engagement with this club is the strongest I’ve seen in all my years with the Mets.

Regarding this, per sources with direct knowledge, it was clear that multiple teams, including Boston, had a willingness to exceed high offer if they knew Soto would agree. Ultimately he chose Mets in part because of family-friendly vibe that Alex Cohen has established.
