While this could be built today, and could last as long as this one does. The fundamental problem is that you eliminate your customers. Everyone buys one, and now no one needs one, they last forever. That being said, because they are going to last forever and that you can only build so many and the demand may be high, that means that the price is going to have to be high so that you don’t get swamped with orders that you cannot fulfill. So are you willing to spend 5 to 10x the price of your current stove to get one of these? Also, considering that people, on average move every 5 to 7 years? I know my wife would, you don’t want to know how much she spent on our kitchen appliances last year. Ouch.

This is a mid-century Chambers gas stove, built in the 1930s through 1950s, back when appliances were designed to outlive you. The entire design revolves around heat retention. The mass stabilizes temperature, reduces fluctuations, and gives you more consistent results. It’s the opposite of the lightweight, fast-heating approach most modern stoves use. There’s a clear difference in philosophy here. This wasn’t built to be replaced. It was built to work.
