@G27Status Your "repurposed multiplayer game" framing is weird, Matty. TOW had alot of the issues you talked about in your review. I agree it's a problem but "repurposed MP game" is a scapegoat. Obsidian just need to step it up. Being AA isn't an excuse when you're backed by Xbox.

Also, since the internet loves to snowball, I am not concerned about The Outer Worlds 2 over this game. At least, not yet. Avowed feels shackled likely due to its previous multiplayer focus and I think Obsidian did a fine enough job unwinding it. You can absolutely feel it though. I expect a game built from the ground up as a single player RPG such as The Outer Worlds 2 to have greater reactivity (and hopefully writing) than what's present here in Avowed.

Avowed is good, not great. Considering Obsidian has made some of my favorite RPGs ever (KOTOR 2, New Vegas, Outer Worlds, etc.), it bums me out that I can't sing greater praises that than that. My Review: youtube.com/watch?v=Zpo4Eq…

@G27Status I thought your analysis on the NPCs just standing around was a great catch. That definitely sounds like that hub based "and this faction leader is right by the stairs". Makes me think of Destiny 2 main hub.

@Batman_Beware My only safe bet is Ghost Of Yotei and Death Stranding 2, if they're both still coming 2025.

@_elmiedo @kalaelizabeth It's a long game. No matter how good/bad the combat is, it's gonna get repetitive. But fwiw I think it has better combat than most third person action RPG's. I reccomend the Mage and using the Orb and Blade.

My top played games this year were: Cyberpunk 2077 Dragon Age Veilguard Dragon Age Inquisition Baldur's Gate 3 Overwatch (I'm addicted and it's definitely my most played game 😭)

@Nilbog17 @weskeltner One time, if it stopped at Danny, is a mistake. But they've released 3 broken characters that make the game miserable and put them behind a paywall. At this point it's an intentional and devious business model. Sorry if I don't want to hear Wes grandstand about protecting TCM.

@kalaelizabeth I think overall the Assassin's Creed franchise has the best OSTs. Gears of War OST is very underrated too.

What are the best video game OSTs? I spend all day listening to these video game soundtracks and want to add more 🎧
