@BitKovin Different codepaths might arrive at the same final destination, but they have different amount of intermediate stops. And you want to reduce amount of those.

@valigo Everything in windows is drawn using d3d. Literally everything. Like... How do you even draw without graphics API? Even software renderer sends its buffer to GPU using graphics API

@FPSthetics When I'm trying to make a level I always get stuck at trying to make layout believable. I need to embrace completely unrealistic level design that is interesting to explore. Also game's lore supports idea of castle having irrational planing

I think another part of what makes Quake creepy on top of the haunting atmosphere is the really abstract level design. It's like the concept of places rather than the realisation, like trying to navigate a dream and not a tangible place. Bless 90's limitations in that regard.

@bkaradzic This still causes significant performance penalties on WebGL? I mean, it should probably not be an issue if you are not switching pipelines all the time? Which is ideally what you have, if you batch things appropriately.
