Let’s be honest. AI4 is cooked. Back in 2019 and 2020, people raved about HW3 in a very similar way, and it was hyped even more than AI4 (by Elon and Tesla). Based on history, the maximum life cycle for a computer like this is 4 years. Guess what? AI4 is approaching the end of its lifecycle. I know this is a hard pill to swallow, and I know this post could have a negative impact on Tesla in the short run due to the Osborne Effect, but it makes literally zero sense to buy an AI4 car right now. The only exception that’s possibly valid is if you can afford TWO new cars in the next 2-3 years. In that case, knock yourself out! You totally deserve it.

Yes, I know. But they've now admitted that won't be possible, and they've begun to lay out a plan to rectify that for existing owners. I suppose you either believe what Tesla says, or you don't. I tend to think they've always been honest, but honesty and being right are not the same thing.

@SantoroSystems At this point just taking 14 lite and waiting for the class actions to carry out is best we can hope for lol.

Lol In all seriousness I know nothing is solid so we're not going to get accurate answers at this point. But I'm a little nervous that it's going to boil down to waiting until like 2028 to get the retrofit, or still spending tens of thousands of dollars to just buy a new car.

@BlakeMoyers HW3 is still getting FSD and software updates from Tesla. You have to wait for unsupervised just like everyone else is, including HW4. If you feel like you got scammed then start a class action lawsuit against Elon and Tesla to make generational money.

The only people that hate Tesla are the ones who don’t own or use the latest Tesla. Change my mind

@BLKMDL3 Even in HW3 never achieved unsupervised it’s still incredible technology, especially for budget conscious car buyers.

It’s now April 2026 and the FSD in my 2019 Model 3 is still better than the ADAS in every brand new non-Tesla you can buy.

@Pooerh @JonBbC_TechGeek Nailed it. All the paid Elon Fluffers like this guy are annoying as f they get their paycheck from daddy and and then no matter what he is correct, even when he scammed millions from HW3 purchasers.

The main issue is all the Teslafluencers now hyping up RT and unsupervised FSD. And yes, based on your earnings video Elon would upgrade when unsupervised is solved. So if Teslafluencers are now claiming unsuprvised is solved, then sequentially, HW3+FSD owners would be upgraded. But then all the same Teslafluencers now saying HW3+FSD are now whining. SO which is which? Is unsupervised is solved or not? Hence they are now losing credibility!

This is the same situation for Australia: FSD will not operate on HW3. It is fully capable to operate, even in its current state, however, there are some behaviors that are notably bad on *certain* HW3 vehicles. It is well documented within the Tesla community that some HW3 vehicles, even when they have clear camera views, will drive too slowly or gravitate toward inner road lines. This is speculated to be a software issue (bug) that has not been fixed and it has resulted in many Tesla HW3 owners in North America abandoning the use of FSD.

@kwabert That includes all the above. The numbers aren’t clear about the fully bought outright numbers but from here on out it will be only monthly subscriptions.

There are currently over 1.1 million active subscribers to $TSLA FSD from prior read in Q4 2025. That’s close to $1.3 billion in annual revenue. The adoption rate should be close to 20-25% as of now.

@SantoroSystems @onxlink Yep. Instead I got an update 2 days ago that brought brake stabbing and the worst "shadow braking" since the early auto pilot days. About to do 200 miles on this new rollout I just got but don't have high hopes. We are abandoned for sure.

@BlakeMoyers @onxlink I'm nervous about that as well. After like 18 months or however long it's been v14 has massively improved but I think a lot of that is the computer. I'm worried the jump is going to be smaller than what we saw in the last 18 months before we were abandoned

@onxlink I hope so, wish we had more AI days. Not knowing how much of v14s advancements are because of the ai4 computer is annoying. I don't know if we're going to get something that resembles 12.7. something that's better than v13? Better than v14 lol who knows.

If $TSLA can get 60% of their existing fleet of around 9.5 million vehicles to subscribe to FSD at the $99/mo rate, Tesla would have a SaaS business making around $564 million every single month. That comes out to $6.8 billion per year just with the existing fleet.
