@RobProvince The famous scene where Andy escapes through the sewage pipe was filmed using a mixture of chocolate syrup, sawdust, and water to create the “sewage.” Despite how disgusting it looked, actor Tim Robbins actually had to crawl through it multiple times during filming. 😭

@OakLawnTek Correct. In this case, the umpires decided that, without the obstruction, he would have scored so they awarded him home. I could see an argument either way here but it’s a judgement call. To be fair, he didn’t have to come to a complete stop because of the obstruction.

@BlueOnTheDish Outs Can Still Stand: If the runner attempts to stretch that extra distance and gets thrown out on a subsequent, separate play, the out will stand. The obstruction only protects them up to the base they would have reasonably attained. Just trying to understand

Still confused on how you get two bases after the so called interference! 🤔 “Dead ball at the time of infraction and runners returned to the last base legally acquired.” #WhiteSox

@pynnonen_ I saw one last night where a guy missed a ball that was 2.8 INCHES outside. That’s crazy and ABS is great for that but this .0001 inch miss is wild

@BlueOnTheDish For sure. The measurement itself has to have some kind of margin of error, which I’m not sure how they account for. Overall I think it’s good for the egregious misses with guys on base but these cases feel like splitting hairs

@SpencerTBrown I’m shocked by the complete lack of knowledge and complete crybaby nature of White Sox fans.

@KevinWheeler94 That’s an easy one. Gone. In a lot of leagues at that age that means the manager is gone too

This is easy. Automatic ejection. No questions asked and if anyone argues they can go sit in the parking lot. Catchers are not fair game. Slide. If there is obstruction then it's up to the umpire to call it correctly. Scoring a run is not worth a kid getting hurt.
Seth McClung@Seth_3773

Wow! Ok I watched this over and over. This is crazy… how do you think this should be handled? What would you do if this was your kid catcher and runner?

@Upper_Beck Why didn’t the manager go out there and fight it? How can the umpire have power over the ABS?

I’ve yet to see this happen: Milwaukee challenged a called ball. The ABS replay indicated strike, but the home plate umpire announced Milwaukee had lost the challenge and the pitch would remain a ball. Bizarre and potentially consequential in a divisional rivalry.

@BlueOnTheDish @LatrianFlayer The runner was slowed down more by his ridiculous route and throwing his arms out more than anything Sam did. And Colson only had to lob a throw into get the runner by 12 steps...

@AlexHossfeld Are you high? That’s a real question. No, he didn’t have the ball while the runner was rounding 3rd. It’s not even close to that.

@BlueOnTheDish The relay man didn't have the ball when he was rounding 3rd? He soft tossed it because he had so much time

@djstringcheese Keep in mind, that’s only for Type B. For Type A the runner is guaranteed the next base after the last one they legally touched.

The run scores on the interference. Pereda actually ran into Antonacci on the play. He's had a full game of issues.

@djstringcheese What if the 5 had fielded that ball and was standing there waiting for the runner? If the runner keeps going anyway, you’re not protecting him. He is free game and if he’s out, he’s out. You don’t see it often because guys usually don’t press it like that but it does happen

@djstringcheese Because he’s only protected to the base he would have gotten without the obstruction. If he chooses to go beyond that he’s free game. Think about it this way- (1)

@AlexHossfeld No, he really wasn’t. It was close enough that it wasn’t outrageous to award him home. He was out by maybe 3 steps.

@AlexHossfeld The distance between the bases is 90ft. Yet you think he was out by 80? Ummmm. Ok.

@BlueOnTheDish I didn't say it wasn't obstruction because the unnatural motion. The fielder can literally run wherever he wants and it's the fielders job to get it out the way. And the runner was out by 80 ft. Laughable to say that cost him 80 ft...

@djstringcheese Certainly debatable. But putting him on 3rd in that scenario isn’t an option. He kept going so he’s either awarded home or he’s out. In Type B there is no guaranteed base award. The runner is simply protected to the base he would have achieved without the obstruction

@BlueOnTheDish I simply don't understand not just putting him at 3rd. I understand it's a judgement call but I think you'd have to be blind to think Pareda was making it home there.
