No they didn't. They mandated new approvals for import as well as an intent to develop some degree of production within the US. I don't currently know what degree is being required; it might be assembly, or much more. We've already had another example, of this: If people had actually read and understood the contracts and referenced documentation to which they agree when first turning on a DJI product, from every last entity involved, every single one of them would have returned the product immediately, before even powering it up. Some of those contracts were illegal and not enforceable, but were being executed, anyway. I ran into that, myself, when testing action cameras. DJI, therefore, was a DNF. The camera bricked itself after five power cycles if no agreement was made; agreements that were in no way illustrated before opening, nor even after opening the package. The products were spyware, pure and simple; and to find out, one would have to be as contract-obsessive as I am, and as familiar with associated language trickery; and it took even me a long time to sort it all. Very few people will even read a piece of paper that comes in a box. DJI is currently out of the market under similar regulation. They chose to leave rather than to comply. That decision might change, of course, or it might already have. I hope they play ball, eventually, because their products are actually quite well made and, despite it's DNF status, the camera I was testing did a good job. At this time, however, they are a security risk and a company scraping user data and sending it everywhere; and if you try to stop them, they'll wave a contract three companies deep from another nation in your face and say you can't. Most people will back off in ignorance. Routers are absolutely critical. You may own them, but they're part of our vast digital infrastructure, and thus matter astronomically more than quad copters with cameras. They touch everything you do on your computer, these days and, for many people, everything that happens in their house and even on their phones while home. Your router collects your life: Nearly all of it. This is a gigantic vulnerability in our electronic ecosystem, and makes everyday citizens unknowing targets of great financial and even leverage value. It's high time we protect our shores from such nonsense, and stand in the line of fire for consumers who can't be bothered to read. DJI was bad. Routers, though ... Even I haven't been through all those references; and that's saying something. I generally read everything, and trace each reference as far as it can go, through as many entities as I can find. We need clean products that are made to stay clean, and we need commitments to production investment within our own borders. We've been gambling for far too long, already. That's all Uncle Sam did, here: Follow the suggestions I made in that last paragraph. Nothing more. Don't let this publication rile you up. They're up to no good for clicks, which honestly, in my estimation, places them in bed with the very companies they claim are no longer allowed.
