Film director Chandra Barot passed away at 86 in Mumbai today. He grew up in Tanzania which he left following racial unrest. His platinum jubilee hit, Don (1978), is embossed in the memory of a generation, especially the 'Khaike paan Benaraswala' track. In the photo, Barot is on the right shooting the song, Eee hai Bambai nagariya at the Gateway of India. The photo has been taken from the book, The Making of Don, by Krishna Gopalan, published by Rupa. It makes for a fascinating read.
