ARMY EQUIPS 170 FOREST GUARDS IN KEBBI TO FIGHT BANDITRY The General Officer Commanding 8 Division Nigerian Army, Maj. Gen. Bemgba Koughna, has provided motorcycles, kits and logistics items to 170 forest guards in Kebbi State to enhance their fight against terrorism and banditry. The logistics package includes 10 new motorcycles, 170 sleeping kits and essential food supplies aimed at improving mobility, welfare and operational effectiveness across the North-West region. The forest guards will operate under Nigerian Army control to protect vulnerable communities . Kebbi State Commissioner for Home Affairs Haliru Wasabu commended the Army's "timely intervention and strong collaboration" with the state government .

The only civilian authority who could lawfully counter-order to allow Wike entry is the President and Commander-in-Chief. Without routing orders through the military, not even the Ministers of Defence can counter-order an operational command given to a military officer.
