Most CPG brands die because they're looking for the breakthrough moment instead of stacking 200 unremarkable weeks in a row.

@natelagos #3 is the one I wasn’t prepared for. While your dashboards shows you are crushing, your bank account is sad. Because it all goes right back into the business.

Lessons I'm learning on the road to cracking $100k/mo for my own brand: 1. Product is the most impactful growth lever I have 2. Organic social is the next most important one 3. Long lead times and paying for inventory orders sucks right now. I'm very profitable on paper, but for every dollar I make, I'm trying to send 3 back to the manufacturer to stop the cycle of being sold out every other month. This month could've been quadruple what it will be if I didn't sell out of some SKUs... frustrating 4. Overall, this is very fun, but it would be terrifying and insanely stressful if I didn't have other income from freelance work, so shoutout to all y'all who have done it solo! 5. I need to spend more time getting creators on board & repping the gear in their content That's it, after running marketing for mid 8-figure brands, it's really fun & challenging bootstrapping my own thing from zero. Highly recommend more marketers do this if you can afford it, it's making me better.

The game is still dominated by brands over investing in field merchandising. It's boring, and it's undefeated. Partnering with agencies that can drop 1,000x 1099 reps into your top banners, ensure your product is merchandised properly with tags, build secondary placements, and keep your product in stock. Your competitor will go out of stock and nobody touches that set for a week until a store employee gets to it. Meanwhile your field merch team is in store getting reorders placed and putting your product in front of more consumers. your brand will always win. the better field teams today run through execution portals, so you get visibility into: before pics after pics shelf compliance (are the right SKUs in the right places) Out of Stock alerts reorders placed secondary placements built No amount of Meta spend will ever do that. Rule of thumb: ~$25 per store visit. For the best groups, expect at least a 90 day commitment with a few hundred doors commitment a month. I've seen a few brands try to build field merchandising teams in house, but they just can't compete with the scale of some of the incumbent agencies. If I’m running a $10M food/bev brand trying to get to $50M, or a $50M brand trying to get to $100M... field merchandising gets more budget, you’re influencing the shopper within feet of purchase.

When coaches focus on winning, development doesn’t happen. Coaches don’t want to teach and coach kids how to pitch because it won’t help their team in the short term, hurting the development of players and leagues in the long run. There is a huge need for fundamental practices run by leagues so players can learn and develop. Games at the youth level don’t do it. Yet here in FL you play 2 games and get 1 practice. Because that makes sense. More games, less practice.

This set up by Brett Sullivan in foul territory on a throw from RF allows him to reach across his body further into foul territory & catch the ball with enough body control to be able to redirect his momentum back into fair territory to make the tag. If he was in front of HP & had the same throw into foul territory, he would not have had the ability to come back & make the play. Just too much momentum moving away from the play. If you start foul & it’s a good throw, you have ample time to move into fair territory to make the tag.

@orenmeetsworld The $$$ for these booths is insane to think about. But the marketing, branding, and creativity is next level. I need to attend to gain inspiration and learn a thing or two.

Willingness to do what you ask is much higher than baseball players typically. Less exhausting trying to convince baseball players to want to change. I've had great experience in softball. Plan on staying in it.

My experience coaching baseball versus softball players. Baseball players are a lot more stubborn. They have to fail in order for them to want to listen. Have to trick them at times. Baseball players typically have better body awareness than softball players.

@BostonRobby @michaelmiraflor agree that there's a lot of sports competition right now...but the World Cup generally has a lot of attention a year or more ahead of time. US audiences in 2026 are very different.

@randomrecruiter this is wild. Silicon Valley used to pride itself in culture & people. now they are becoming the companies they prided themselves on disrupting. Shareholders first, finding efficiency, reduce redundancy, cost cutting. Employees are an afterthought. well done @finkd

Meta is laying off 8,000 people tomorrow, or 10% of the company. Just 3 days before Memorial Day weekend. They told everyone to work from home on Wednesday so they can fire them remotely. This is probably to make it easier for the executive team to let them go than it is to give the effected employees some grace. Then another 7,000 employees are being "drafted" into AI teams. What are those teams building? AI agents that will be trained to replace the employees building it. They're also eliminating middle managers which will make them "flatter" so they can have smaller teams that move faster. And they installed mouse tracking software on employee machines so they can watch literally everything you do (more companies do this already than you realize). This is going to be the new blueprint. We all know tech is a copy cat league. Every major tech company is watching this play out and will follow suite.

@onlysweatequity 100%. I have heard it confuses the algorithm if you have competing interests on your main page. Q: when you have a winning post/reel on one of the other accounts, then collaborate with the main account?

Brands should run multiple accounts like ESPN does it:⁣ ⁣ "If you're a soccer fan, you're gonna follow ESPN soccer... same thing for brands."⁣ ⁣ "It's all interest based. If you try to do that on your main account... none of those are gonna work."

@michaelmiraflor @GK_ventures Not much hype, it isn't being talked about here in the states. wait until the hype & coverage starts, then do what you can to capitalize. also you have: European futbol wrapping up. NBA, NHL playoffs happening. MLB, WNBA started. College softball postseason is here.

@GK_ventures Because it hasn’t started yet and it’s a 6-7 week effort once it does. A ton of money and resources, and pulling it up even further isn’t doable for a lot of brands.

@Seth_3773 all he had to do was slide but chose violence. so toss him for malicious contact. he could have run through the plate and ducked his head. but he chose to extend his shoulder into the catcher.
