Stephens is penciled in as CB1, he’s not competing this summer. Wright is the one who has to earn a starting job.
No mention of Ponds either who might be the Jets de facto CB1 by midseason IMO.
Insinuating that someone like Brownlee is competing with Stephens is just silly.

while i agree with the overall sentiment, this is a really bad analysis of the Jets CB room and has clearly been written by someone who does not have a pulse on the current roster

CBS Sports says the Jets’ biggest remaining offseason priority is cornerback: "If the Geno Smith union does not work, then the bottom could fall out quickly. Cornerback has the lowest floor on the roster. Nahshon Wright has been a volatile performer throughout his career. They need Brandon Stephens, Azareye'h Thomas and/or Jarvis Brownlee Jr. to adequately fill the other starting cornerback role."

The Jets wanted to get their QB1 settled before they signed their QB2, according to team sources. Geno Smith is now the QB1.
Carson Wentz is considered a top candidate for that QB2 job, according to multiple league sources (and as @Connor_J_Hughes has said). A source close to Wentz expressed a feeling that he would be ultimately be a Jet.
Free agency officially opens tomorrow at 4 PM.

The New York Jets will use one of the tags at their disposal on running back Breece Hall if they can't reach an agreement with the running back before Tuesday's deadline, general manager Darren Mougey said Tuesday. The Jets can either use the franchise tag or the transition tag on Hall.
