Nothing reveals a rube, newbie or frontrunner quite like the use of “T’Wolves.” “Always loved those games between the T’Wolves and the S’Sonics.” 🙄 It’s Wolves. Simple.

@Brownovermj @ShamsCharania If they are incentivized not to be at the bottom, the bottom three will more likely be the ones that were more injured. Not actually the worst. Injuries to stars that make you temporarily bad shouldn’t get you a top pick.

The NBA has disclosed to its 30 GMs a singular new anti-tanking reform that expands the draft lottery to 16 teams, flattens odds, and have a relegation zone where the bottom 3 teams are penalized with fewer lottery balls for the No. 1 pick. ESPN details: espn.com/nba/story/_/id…

@WorldWideWob You are forgetting that overtime record has already been broken in the rematch when the Wolves came back from 13 down in OT the next time they played each other. Both Scott Foster Specials.

After surrendering the biggest overtime lead in NBA play-by-play era history Christmas night to these same Nuggets, Minnesota just had their second biggest comeback playoff win since 1998 (19 points). The only one better? Game 7 against Denver in 2024. This rivalry rules.

All my life I’ve seen chefs talk about bending your knuckles when you chop veggies but every time I tried, it seemed more dangerous to me. This is honestly the first video that explained it to me. I’m probably the only one who doesn’t know this.

@jzulgad Just put the robot buzzer in their pocket, if it buzzes, call the strike. If it doesn’t, call a ball. Let the final call still be made by the ump.

@JonKrawczynski @DrewHanlen Ten years ago there were league execs who believed they were going to move to 72 game seasons once they could convince the highest revenue teams it was better for the league as a whole. They never convinced them.

@DrewHanlen That would be awesome. TV ratings would be higher. Fan satisfaction greater because load management would be reduced. It would be more competitive and fresher. It will just never happen because both sides would have to give up a lot of money

If/when NBA expands to 32, they should make the season 62 games & eliminate back-to-backs. Every team plays each other once at home & one away.

Kyler Murray is stepping into a VERY familiar spot for the Vikings franchise. In their history, 7 different QBs who were on their second team or later have won 10+ games for them in a season. Tied with Chiefs for most in NFL history. How many of them can you name?

Bob Odenkirk drops a heartbreakingly beautiful truth on Mike Birbiglia: “Who are you jealous of?” “Anybody who’s still got little kids at home growing up. No question.” He explains: When his kids were young, he knew exactly who he was every single day. “I didn’t have to ask myself, ‘What am I doing here? How can I be meaningful today?’ The answer was simple: Pick up everything between here and the door, make sure they get to school, have a laugh with them. You absolutely know who you are. You’re a dad.” The quiet ache of purpose fulfilled—and now missed. Hits hard for anyone who’s been there (or wishes they were). Dads (and moms) who’ve had that phase: Does this resonate? Parents still in the thick of it: Do you feel that clarity every day?

The reason Denver has handled Minnesota this season and the reason the Nuggets are in control tonight is that Jamal Murray is back to his old self this year. Such a big difference

Dirk thinks that the Timberwolves are "playing down to their competition a little bit." There should be a German term for that.

@jaycaspiankang I think I understand your reasoning, but the NBA has disproportionate local revenues. Top markets make several times the smaller markets total revenue just on their local TV rights. I was saying your point about also removing the salary cap would just turn the NBA into MLB

LETS GO Just to review: 1. Have ‘rookie week’ where all rookies can be signed w no rookie scale. But all final decisions made in a 4 hour window where all the teams are bidding against each other. How you get Wemby signing 50m a year. 2. Put it on tv w all teams there.
Fullcourtpass@Fullcourtpass

Adam Silver and his advisors would “seriously consider” abolishing the rookie draft and turning rookies in free agents if it is the only way to stop tanking, per @joevardon (nytimes.com/athletic/70468…)

@jaycaspiankang This feels like a content creator’s take who doesn’t care if small market teams become irrelevant permanently. Baseball is pointless for a reason.

You tell me what’s better TV and social media. The current NBA draft or 30 teams and 300 reporters in a 4 hour window covering teams bidding each other up, players saying they don’t want to go to a team, and everyone leaking everything all week. The rookie scale is communism.

@TimGarrisonMN Wolves lead the league in travel miles most years. Also, Memphis and New Orleans do little to improve competitive balance between the conferences. MN would help balance for the next 6-7 years.

In terms of how this relates to the Timberwolves, Minnesota has a great shot at moving to the East. Yes, Memphis and New Orleans are further east geographically, but Minnesota is on an island when it comes to nearby Western Conference teams, but has multiple nearby east teams that other sports share rivalries with. Minnesota fits far better into the mix with Milwaukee, Chicago, Detroit etc. while Memphis and New Orleans have the Texas teams and OKC relatively close. Here’s a map for reference:
