উত্তর দমদম কেন্দ্রের অধিকাংশ ভোটার ঐ কেন্দ্রের বিজেপি প্রার্থীর নাম শোনেননি। কোনও প্রচার ছিল না। অনেক বুথে বিজেপির এজেন্ট‌ও ছিল না। ফলাফল প্রকাশের পর ওখানকার স্থানীয় অনেকেই হতবাক হয়ে গেছেন ।।

Garga is no martyr or victim. He is an unhinged, hate-spewing, arrogant, parochial bigot. He is neither a defender/protector of Bengali culture nor does he represent Bengali nationalism. He and his gang have been going around intimidating poor workers from Bihar/UP and inciting people against them actively. That courage however went up his posterior aperture when it came to speaking or acting against TMC leaders in power, like Firhad Hakim. He openly advocated allowing migration from Bangladesh by positing it as a counter to migration of Biharis and people of other provinces. I defend his right to express his opinion freely. But was he doing only that? The court will decide the merit of the arrest, but it is funny how the usual suspects have suddenly discovered liberal values to support a devious person. He has suddenly been turned into a martyr. Where was it for the innumerable cases in the last decade?
