STANDARD NUCLEAR HAS A NASA SPACE NUCLEAR PROPULSION CONTRACT EXTENSION. ALMOST NOBODY IS TALKING ABOUT IT.
BEYOND TERRESTRIAL TRISO
· In 2025, NASA awarded Standard Nuclear a space nuclear propulsion contract extension, the same company now scaling HALEU TRISO production in Oak Ridge for the domestic advanced reactor buildout.
· July 2025: Standard Nuclear and SHINE Technologies announced a framework agreement under which SHINE will supply Sr-90 and Am-241 specifically for Standard Nuclear's radioisotope power systems for space and defense applications.
· The company characterizes its TRISO as designed for both terrestrial advanced reactors and space reactor applications, including nuclear thermal propulsion concepts.
· Both the NASA contract work and the RPS capabilities were acquired via Standard Nuclear's ~$28M purchase of Ultra Safe Nuclear's fuel assets and technology contracts out of bankruptcy in early 2025.
Every successful fuel application validates the fuel for every other one. Radiant is proof point one, NASA is proof point two, and defense installations, commercial space, and allied export markets are all downstream from there. This isn't a fuel business built for one customer. It's infrastructure for a multi-domain nuclear economy.
