I will always tell the American people the truth.
Pesticides and herbicides are toxic by design, engineered to kill living organisms. When we apply them across millions of acres and allow them into our food system, we put Americans at risk. Chemical manufacturers have paid tens of billions of dollars to settle cancer claims linked to their products, and many agricultural communities report elevated cancer rates and chronic disease.
Unfortunately, our agricultural system depends heavily on these chemicals. The U.S. represents 4% of the world’s population, yet we use roughly 25% of its pesticides. If these inputs disappeared overnight, crop yields would fall, food prices would surge, and America would experience a massive loss of farms even beyond what we are witnessing today. The consequences would be disastrous.
I support President Trump’s Executive Order to bring agricultural chemical production back to the United States and end our near-total reliance on adversarial nations. His EO protects two pillars of national strength: our defense readiness and our food supply. When hostile actors control critical inputs, they directly threaten the security of the American people. The Trump administration will secure these supply chains to eliminate that vulnerability.
President Trump did not build our current system — he inherited it. For decades, Washington designed modern agriculture. Policymakers wrote farm policy, directed research dollars, structured subsidies and crop insurance, and shaped commodity markets to reward monocultures and maximum yield. Those deliberate choices locked farmers into chemical dependence and prioritized short-term output over long-term soil vitality and human health.
We are now changing course — without destabilizing the food supply.
Alongside @USDA@SecRollins, we are accelerating the transition to regenerative agriculture by expanding farming systems that rebuild soil, increase biodiversity, improve water retention, and reduce reliance on synthetic chemicals, including pre-harvest desiccation.
We are also driving the rapid adoption of next-generation technologies, including laser-guided weed control, electrothermal and electrical systems, robotics, precision mechanical cultivation, and biological controls that replace blanket spraying with precision intervention.
These solutions are not theoretical. Farmers are already putting them to work. Markets are scaling them. Now the federal government will act with urgency to expand their reach and accelerate adoption nationwide.
I have met with hundreds of farmers and agricultural leaders across the country. They understand the pressures firsthand. Chemical inputs cut into margins. Chemical-resistant pests are spreading. Soil health is declining. Foreign markets are shutting out American produce. Farmers want workable alternatives, and they want policies that support transition without threatening their livelihoods.
At HHS, I am leading a coordinated effort grounded in gold standard science. I am working with Secretary Rollins and @EPALeeZeldin to expedite a better future where a thriving agricultural system is less dependent on harmful chemicals. We are sharing data, coordinating strategy, and supporting farmers through a practical transition.
The Make America Healthy Again agenda forces us to challenge long-standing assumptions about how we grow food, structure markets, and measure success in this country. Reform at this scale will test entrenched interests, and it will not move in a straight line.
President Trump has opened the door to this debate and backed meaningful change — not only in policy, but in the national conversation about health and agriculture.
American farmers stand at the center of this movement. They deserve policies rooted in rigorous science and economic reality. Our children deserve a food system that protects and strengthens their health.
With President Trump’s leadership, we are securing critical supply chains, confronting the health risks embedded in our current system, and deploying every available tool to build a stronger, safer, more resilient American food supply.
@calleymeans I did it at 36 weeks pregnant. Although the pull-ups weren't nearly as pretty as they once were.
10 rounds of 10 pushups, 5 pull ups @ 1:00
Video of last 10 pushups. I'll spare you my pull-ups 😂
I’m beyond thrilled to celebrate and congratulate my dear friend and close ally, @CaseyMeansMD on her nomination for Surgeon General of the United States.
This moment is not only historic, it’s deeply personal. Casey is one of the most courageous, nurturing, and pure-hearted humans I’ve ever had the privilege of knowing.
She has poured her brilliance, compassion, and relentless dedication into the fight for a healthier, freer future for all of us.
Just 5 years ago, after reading my book on the broken food system, Food Fix, Casey made the bold decision to walk away from a prestigious surgical career and devote herself fully to the root-cause mission, to unearth and heal the true drivers of chronic disease and help reclaim health freedom for our nation.
Her conviction wasn’t abstract; it was total. And just 6 months ago, she showed up for me, literally, on Christmas Day in the hospital, when I was facing one of the darkest, most vulnerable moments of my life. She brought presence, love, and strength when I needed it most.
That’s who Casey is: someone who shows up, who listens deeply, who leads with her heart as fiercely as with her mind. Her nomination signals a new chapter, not just for public health, but for the soul of healthcare in America.
Casey embodies the kind of leadership we need: science-forward, root-cause focused, people-centered, and uncompromisingly ethical. There is no better person to carry this responsibility. And I can’t wait to see what she does next.
Congratulations, Casey. You are the future we’ve been waiting for.
Congratulations to @CaseyMeansMD for her nomination as Surgeon General! Given her knowledge of and commitment to ending the chronic disease epidemic in the US, she will do an excellent job making America healthy again.
The absurd attacks on Casey Means reveal just how far off course our healthcare conversations have veered, and how badly entrenched interests--including Big Food and its industry-funded social media gurus--are terrified of change.
Casey has excelled in every endeavor she has undertaken. She was President of her Stanford undergrad class, was a standout at Stanford Medical School, and was a top performer in surgical residency. She had the courage to leave traditional medicine because she realized her patients weren’t getting better.
The attacks that Casey is unqualified because she left the medical system completely miss the point of what we are trying to accomplish with MAHA. Casey is the perfect choice for Surgeon General precisely because she left the traditional medical system--not in spite of it. Her leadership has inspired many doctors to reform the system and forge a new path away from sick care, which fills corporate coffers, and toward health care, which enriches all of us.
After leaving traditional medicine, Casey started a company and wrote a New York Times best-selling book that empowered patients and helped launch the MAHA movement. This ability of Casey’s to inspire Americans to rethink our healthcare system is also an existential threat to the status quo interests, which profit from sickness.
The goal of MAHA is to reform the largest and most powerful industry in the United States. I have little doubt that these companies and their conflicted media outlets will continue to pay bloggers and other social media influencers to weaponize innuendo to slander and vilify Casey, the same way they try to defame me and President Trump.
But it will not work. Every day, I wake up emboldened to drive change because I know the support of MAHA moms has my back. Casey has played an integral role in galvanizing these moms.
Casey articulates better than any American the North Star of a country where we have eliminated diabetes, heart disease, and obesity through prioritizing metabolic health. Casey will help me ensure American children will be less medicated and better fed--and significantly healthier--during the next four years. She will be the best Surgeon General in American history.
The Surgeon General is a symbol of moral authority who stands against the financial and institutional gravities that tend to corporatize medicine. Casey Means was born to hold this job. She will provide our country with ethical guidance, wisdom, and gold-standard medical advice even when it challenges popular orthodoxies. She will be a juggernaut against the ossified medical conventions that have helped make our people the sickest in the world at the highest cost per capita. Casey is a breath of fresh air, and we can’t wait for her to get started at @HHSgov. Thank you, President Trump for nominating this outstanding woman.
A true force of nature—@CaseyMeansMD is a genius physician who has educated millions of Americans about the real story on health. She is also one of the most caring people I have ever known. This is a great day in America.
Congratulations Casey! Can’t wait to have you on board!!
For years I have been raising the alarm of the dangers of our current food system. We’re prioritizing corporations feeding us unhealthy products instead of family farmers growing fresh, healthy foods - and we let too many dangerous chemicals flood our food system.
We all must come together to build a system that works for all.
Great to welcome Andrew Spencer, Cole Sulser, Thomas Roulis, Duncan Robinson, and Beau Sulsuer back to campus for their induction into Wearers of the Green! ⚾️

Today is my 37th birthday. Yesterday I went to the US senate and spoke my truth - as a physician, as a woman, and a living being striving to act on the signals I am perceiving and the intuition I feel.
If there is one thing I feel at this moment in my life at 37, it is that cultivating healthy bodies is of real importance as it is one of the ways that we honor this mysterious MIRACLE of life and nurture the material receiver through which we might be able to connect with spirit, with God. Our unhealthy bodies are a distraction and impediment to the bliss that we can experience right now in the simple recognition of our oneness with all things.
Right now, many levers of society in our material world make being healthy extremely challenging for so many. There is mass suffering that needn’t be, because we are - I believe - distraction, confused, and lost, In the swirl of the cosmos, there is something happening in our little corner that feels like it glitching. Life is on assault. Our Earth, the Mother through which God allowed us to come into human form by assembling atoms from her into us, is being destroyed at our own hands, and so of course, so are we. We have broken the cycles of life, and so we are, or course, breaking.
I don’t believe the answers to this are going to be strictly technological, because technology often seems to have the intent of outsmarting nature, with I don’t think is possible. I believe they need to be based in humility, care, and respect for our Mother. 🌎
We, together, can right all of this. I think we can do it rapidly. I think we NEED to do it rapidly. We can protect our earth, protect each other, and get back on track to pursue our highest calling in this precious moment in this lifetime.
This is what I came to say to the US government yesterday.
PROFOUNDLY grateful to the other speakers on the panel, @SenRonJohnson , @RobertKennedyJr , and @calleymeans for leadership on this panel.
I wrote Good Energy because the metabolic health crisis is the biggest threat we face. And the answers are simpler than we are told. The tools to feeling better today are the SAME as how to prevent disease tomorrow. The biggest lie in healthcare is that type 2 diabetes, cancer, heart disease, dementia, Alzheimer’s, depression, arthritis, infertility and more are totally different diseases requiring separate doctors and pills for life. This siloing of chronic disease has been the costliest mistake in the history of modern medicine. The chronic diseases which account for 90% of health costs and 9 out of 10 deaths result from the SAME THING - dysfunction in our body’s fundamental ability to produce energy, which is caused by simple environmental features that have changed in just a century. And now it’s even affecting children because we aren’t waking up fast enough. We need a full revolution in seeing chronic disease is connected - and that revolution is happening from the bottoms up. Thank you @hubermanlab for summoning the important conversations around health empowerment - and diving into the topic of metabolic health deeper than anyone. I so admire and honor his unparalleled commitment to learning, curiosity, and sharing critical empowering information for free with the world.
Congratulations to our Head Coach, Bob Whalen, on his 635th career win!
Today's victory makes Coach Whalen the winningest baseball coach in the Ivy League at one institution, passing Penn's Bob Seddon.

All "protocols," "wellness behaviors," "hacks," and "optimizations" will never truly heal us unless we change one key part of the equation, explained below in 10 points. 👇
1. Fundamentally all of our "health and wellness" decisions (the protocols, the biohacks, the morning routines, the wearables) are about reducing suffering and improving happiness and our ability to thrive for a longer period of time. (Necessarily this is true, or we wouldn't be obsessed with figuring them out, reading books about them, spending money on them, and incorporating them into our lives.)
2. In my experience (and that of nearly every major culture throughout history that we know of), the only way that we truly reduce suffering and improve happiness and thriving is by spiritual development: finding ways to connect with source, spirit, god-- whatever you want to call it. Suffering comes not from lack of 12 full minutes of cold-plunges per week, but from our forgetting of our true nature as wholly one with the divine in an eternal, infinite universe of light.
3. That does NOT mean the healthy behaviors aren't important. Quite the OPPOSITE.
4. The healthy behaviors all funnel through the result of creating an *optimized and functional material and energetic form* (the "body") that is a more open and clear channel to source/god/spirit, and which has an easier time of "remembering" that we are fully connected with and one with source/god/spirit. We ARE it.
5. The reasons we must DO the many health behaviors consistently *every single day* is because the nature of our bodies is that they are constantly dynamic entities, constantly giving and taking matter from the environment (food, air) and transforming energy (metabolism) and producing electricity (action potentials, nerves). (Recall, the gut lining fully turns over every 6 weeks... we are transformers.)
6. So to keep the "radio tower" of the body tuned to the frequency of source/god/spirit most potently/optimally, we have to keep giving the body the building blocks and signals (material- food; energetic- light, etc) daily to build - and literally 3D print - the new "structure" of our bodies to channel source/god/spirit.
7. This is why the Daoist statement that we as living beings are "a PROCESS, NOT an entity" is so foundational for health. Because the body IS a constantly changing *process*, so we must keep doing the things (health behaviors, hacks, protocals, etc) to build the healthiest version that can attune to source/god/spirit every, single, day.
8. If you want bliss, thriving, and longevity, connect with god (which we fundamentally are and is within us) simply by remembering our true nature. Part of connecting with god is thinning the illusory veil of duality. Part of thinning the veil of duality this is building a healthy structure (i.e., half of duality - the material side, the body). This is done by the "healthy habits."
9. Build your health goals on this foundation and it becomes utterly effortless to be motivated to "be healthy." Because it's all in service of one thing: the unshakable bliss that comes from unity with spirit and awareness of our true nature.
10. Our despiritualized, desanctified, consumeristic, distracted, digital-obsessed Western culture has entrenched in us that we are simply bodies - things - alive now and then dead later. Which couldn't be farther from the truth. We are swirls of cosmic matter hurling through space channeling consciousness for a brief moment as a way for spirit to experience itself.
So long story short:
- Yes, eat real food picked freshly from organic, biodiverse, thriving soil to build highly functional cells.
- Get lots of sunlight, which controls the genetic and metabolic pathways that create a functioning body.
- Move your bodies all the time throughout the day.
- Lift heavy weights (a way to build more mitochondria to unlock more light energy from the carbon-carbon bonds of food).
- Sleep to keep the miraculous channeling structure of the brain more functional.
- Do the cold plunge (in order to create more functional mitochondria that can, again, release more light energy and convert it to human energy).
Do ALL the health behaviors, but KNOW why you're really doing them. Build your life on a unshakable foundation in service of unlocking your limitless potential as a lightening rod of spirit, and as a part of god.
