CARB needs to quit pretending they can change climate by regulating carbon dioxide. CARB needs to focus on its mission of protecting air quality. The biggest air quality health hazard faced by Californians is toxic wildfire smoke. More EV’s, rooftop solar, wind turbines, and lithium ion battery chemical energy storage facilities will not reduce wildfires. Increased forest management and wildfire prevention is required to reduce toxic wildfire smoke. Since the UN has now scrapped the implausible, worst case emissions scenario known as RCP 8.5, CARB’s quest toward carbon neutral energy at any cost, clearly makes zero sense.
California Lowdown@CAlowdown

Since toxic air pollution has been greatly reduced in California, CARB switched to trying to reduce carbon dioxide which is plant 🌱 food. As a result, Californians are paying an extra $2/gallon for gasoline ⛽️ with no impact on rising levels of CO₂ in the global atmosphere. In fact, over 31 years, the Conference of Parties has failed to put a dent in rising levels of CO₂ in the global atmosphere. CARB should forget carbon dioxide and focus on reducing toxic air pollution caused by wildfire smoke with a sense of urgency around wildfire prevention.

Is now the right time to update California's key clean air program known as cap & invest? @AirResources Board Thursday will vote on updates, after CALeg + Gov. Newsom decided at the last minute last year to extend the program. "This program is delivering"-Chair Lauren Sanchez

CA @AirResources Board this week will vote on updates to key climate program known as cap & invest. Alarm bells on gas prices and oil industry have quieted for now, but there are questions after 2030. "We're committed to working with them," CARB Chair Lauren Sanchez told me

@WesternLensman Less than 20% are farm workers. It’s still illegal to hire someone who doesn’t have work authorization and has been for decades. And this is the former California AG. 🙄

Xavier Becerra is asked why illegals should get taxpayer-funded healthcare in CA — While his opponent Steve Hilton believes that they broke the law, and this incentivizes bad behavior. Becerra: These are the folks picking the crops.

@MikeUmbro The propaganda from Sacramento talked about a “just” transition away from oil. They meant “We’re just going to transition away from California production.”

@GovPressOffice Derp. Hyatt charges more than La Quinta for the same room. They both have to meet the same government standards. Therefore Hyatt is ripping you off. Uh … derp.

This Fox News live shot accidentally proved the point. The Chevron behind him is charging 50 CENTS MORE per gallon than the station across the street. Chevron is profiting off of Trump’s Iran war — and is ripping you off!

🚨 JUST NOW: California Gov. Gavin Newsom just went FULL DERANGED, "going to war" on the state's LARGEST gasoline provider Chevron due to high prices... ...yet he is PURPOSEFULLY inflating their prices with taxes and restrictions on energy 🤯 "Be sure to avoid Chevron." CLOWN.

This is unconscionable. The Governor of CA, an elected official meant to serve the constituents of this state, both individuals and their companies, is urging us to AVOID a company here. Incredibly unethical and disqualifying. No doubt a spiteful response to @Chevron informing the CA citizens that the reason our gas is always outrageously expensive is because of the CA gas tax. That is a FACT cause by the CA Gov. I will be intentionally buying gas at Chevron this week in LA.
Governor Newsom Press Office@GovPressOffice

Californians, if you’re hitting the road this holiday weekend, be sure to AVOID Chevron. Pro tip: unbranded gas comes from the same refineries, storage tanks, and pipelines, and it meets the same state standards to keep your engine running clean, even if it doesn’t have a fancy name like ‘Techron.’  Big Oil is already making billions off Trump’s Iran War; don’t let them rip you off even more by overpaying for the brand name.

Thank you to my friend, Stephen Colbert.  He has been an icon of late night comedy, a warrior for free speech, and a much needed voice in our politics. I have no doubt he will continue to be all of that and much more. Congratulations on an amazing run, @StephenAtHome!

@NewswirePatriot They can cool without water. It’s just more expensive. They could use fin fans and coolant (heat transfer fluid) like your car does.

@oecolamp Would it change your thinking to know that the cost of the actual food is only about 1/3 of the total meal at a restaurant? The other two thirds is labor and facilities which is what you cover when you cook at home.

It's honestly a massive market failure if a person producing their own food at home can achieve a lower marginal cost than a competative market of firms solely dedicated to producing hot meals. Can't understand why you would support free markets if they can't even deliver lunch.

Insane stat of the day: California almonds use roughly 3–5.5 million acre-feet of water per year, depending on methodology. That's ~4-7x more water than all data centers in North America used combined in 2025.

@OwenShroyer1776 I don’t know. But you can air cool a data center. It just costs more - like 25%. There is no alternative to water for agriculture.
