If that was actually what was happening it wouldn’t be such an issue. Saying Matins and Lauds late at night right before bed. But what’s actually happening is they’re being said in April when the sun is out at 6pm because the parish priest would rather get it “out of the way.” Further the reason for changing timing and some accidental aspects was sensible. For eliminating readings and ancient practices in the rites themselves? Not so much.

@BrodyXIV There was no reason for the ceremonies to be changed, and Father refuses to acknowledge that. Nor does he explain why anticipating Tenebrae in the dark is a bad thing when clergy did it all the time before 1956.

By this logic, Pius XII was wrong to permit evening Masses, since Christ rose in the morning. Yet you won't find pro-1956 Holy Week sedes condemning that practice. You people really need to develop better arguments.
Fr. Gabriel Lavery@FrLavery

Waiting for all Pius XII Holy Week critics, who posted in horror about the "inconsistency" of chanting Tenebrae in the morning (it is Matins, after all, right?), to post pictures of their Easter Vigil and Paschal fire in broad daylight this morning, while they read the word "night" nearly two dozen times in the liturgy and celebrate the Resurrection the day before it happened: "Kindle this splendor of the night," "sacrifice offered this night," "this night that hath purged away the darkness of sins," "this night which... doth separate believers in Christ from the iniquities of the world and the gloom of sins," "this night on which, bursting the bonds of death, Christ came victorious from the grave," "O truly blessed night." Then let us hear them complain about the inconsistency of singing their Alleluias and ending the Lenten fast at noon while they wish each other a Blessed Easter on the day *before* Our Lord rose from the dead. Oh, never mind... they won't mention this. Their arguments are only valid when they wish to complain of the Pius XII Holy Week. You see, for those who wish to raise their own opinions and judgment above that of the Church, they will always find something to gripe about on social media. Good Catholics, on the other hand, have always received with filial piety whatever the Church has determined best in the matter of her laws and liturgy, which they know are infallible. Looking forward to a blessed Easter vigil tonight -- in darkness lit by the Paschal fire and candle -- and celebrating the Resurrection on... the day of the Resurrection.

Taking beautiful photos of animals is hack. It's been done. You can find a thousand photos of any given animal online. When you take a photo of a kind-of-interesting tree or unremarkable side-street or something you saw on the ground, you can be sure it's at least original.

@robbertleusink He was a low level secretary on that commission. There were bad men involved, sure, but give them proper credit. Bugnini had no directional influence over the ‘56 changes. The Liturgical Movement had much more. His role in the Consilium ad Exsequendam was far more involved

The man who abolished the ancient Holy Week rites in 1955 worked, by his own admission, in absolute secrecy Annibale Bugnini The Secretary of the Pontifical Commission for Liturgical Reform The officials of the Congregation of Rites learned of his changes when they were published He survived Pius XII, but returned under Paul VI to finish his destruction

NEW — The Virginia Court of Appeals has rejected the rezonings approving the world’s largest data center complex alongside Manassas National Battlefield Park, upholding a lower court ruling that found Prince William County had improperly fast-tracked the votes without properly advertising the proposal or making its text available to the public. We won a battle, but the war is far from over. Even though the Appeals Court sided with us today, we fully expect the deep-pocketed developers to appeal to the Virginia Supreme Court -- and we'll be ready when they do. Just as we are ready to keep up the fight at Wilderness Crossing. battlefields.org/news/virginia-…

Sometimes on Palm Sunday I think, “How could the same Hebrews who welcomed their Lord in procession with palms betray him and shout out ‘crucify Him!’ just a few days later?” And then I remember how many times I have fallen into sin after being absolved. We must all welcome the Christ the King in His triumphant entrance into our own souls, and we must never shout out “crucify Him!” along with His people who betrayed Him, lest His blood will be on our hands as well.

@TheDMVLive Why is a “Chhatra Thapa” in my county in the first place? I don’t even know how to pronounce that. Is the entire Democrat platform just to bring over as many animals as possible to butcher people in America? Insane.

New body cam footage shows Fairfax County police officers shoot and kill an armed suspect who butchered his wife, Binda Thapa, and her daughter, Mamta Thapa, to death inside of an apartment in northern Virginia🚨 A third victim was left fighting for his life. A one year-old baby was present during the atrocious attack as well. He was then picked up by police officers and secured away from the scene. The suspect, Chhatra Thapa, (who had recently moved to the US from Nepal) was pronounced dead on scene. No officers were injured. Our initial report can be found below. ⚠️ Content may be graphic to some audiences. Viewer discretion is advised. ⚠️

‘BLOODBATH’: Fairfax County Police shot and killed a man who had murdered his wife and daughter inside of an apartment in northern Virginia. A third victim is fighting for his life. Police were called out to the 3900 block of Persimmon Drive (just outside of Fairfax, VA) this morning to encounter a “bloodbath of a scene.” The suspect, armed with a curved 10-inch knife, had been actively stabbing his son-in-law. After officers issued several commands to drop the weapon, an officer shot and killed the man. It was also determined that he had stabbed both his daughter and wife, who have both been pronounced dead. A 1-year old was also inside of the apartment at the time. The child was uninjured and has been transferred to the care of social workers. No police officers were injured during the incident. Bodycam footage of the incident will be released in the next 30 days.
