@Don_K_Williams Don’t talk about the money you spend and most people won’t ask. If they do you can give them the reasons if you want a debate or just tell them it was your choice and not worry about it.

“People always asked "Why do you pay so much money for your kid to do sports”? Well I have a confession to make; I don't pay for my kid to “to do sports” Personally, I couldn't care less about what sport she does So, if I am not paying for sports what am I paying for? - I pay for those moments when my kid becomes so tired she wants to quit but doesn’t - I pay for those days when my kid comes home from school and is “too tired" to go to her training but she goes anyway. - I pay for my kid to learn to be disciplined, focused and dedicated - I pay for my kid to learn to take care of her body and learn how to correctly fuel her body for success. - I pay for my kid to learn to work with others and to be a good team mate, gracious in defeat and humble in success - I pay for my kid to learn to deal with disappointment, when they don’t get that placing or title they'd hoped for, but still they go back week after week giving it their best shot. - I pay for my kid to learn to make and accomplish goals - I pay for my kid to respect, not only themselves, but others, officials, judges and coaches - I pay for my kid to learn that it takes hours and hours, years and years of hard work and practice to create a champion and that success does not happen overnight - I pay for my kid to be proud of small achievements, and to work towards long term goals - I pay for the opportunity my child has and will have to make life-long friendships, create lifelong memories, to be as proud of her achievements as I am - I pay so that my child can be in the gym instead of in front of a screen - I pay for those rides home where we make precious memories talking about practice, both good and bad -I pay so that my child can learn the importance of time management and balancing what is important like school and keeping grades up I could go on but, to be short, I don't pay for sports I pay for the opportunities that sports provides my kid with to develop attributes that will serve her well throughout her life and give her the opportunity to bless the lives of others. From what I have seen I think it is a great investment!” - Softball Parent Need Help? Just ask @SRUSA_Official

@bourne_beth2345 @CIFState Just a FYI the fire extinguisher stunt is actually illegal. IMO I also agree boys have no place in girls sports. I don’t see it changing so all people can do is to tell the story. Few remember who win events tell the story of the girl who finishes 2nd every time it happens.

The hypocrisy of @CIFState. You can’t hate them enough. Yesterday at the California state track and field championship meet, Clara Adams from North Salinas High School was stripped of her 400m Dash 1st place medal and disqualified from both the 400 and 200m Dash for celebrating too much with her father/coach. Yet AB Hernandez, a boy-pretending-to-be-a-girl, is allowed to steal medals and podium places from girls all season long in the girls’ triple, high and long jump and is celebrated by CIF. “In a celebratory moment between Adams and her father, she took a fire extinguisher from her dad, stepped away from the track and sprayed her shoes with the extinguisher after winning the race. “I told Clara ‘you’re on fire,'” Clara’s father, David, said.” More details below about CIF Executive Director’s Ron Nocetti @CIFNocetti decision to disqualify Adams. @icons_women @WomenAreReals @xx_xyathletics @Martina @Riley_Gaines_

@_joeycunha @TheFarmRedeemed There’s a lot of dynamics in it all and there’s blame for everyone. The NCAAs unwillingness to give a piece of the pie probably was the number 1 issue. Social media leads to depression for many at all ages. Sports are a dream use them to create the life you want. Then have it.

Every year, people go on a rant about how “kids these days” are soft or ungrateful for entering the transfer portal. But let’s talk about what’s actually happening because most people have no idea how this really works. There are tons of players in the portal who didn’t “quit” on their program—they were told they didn’t have a spot anymore. Coaches told them they should look elsewhere. Coaches pulled scholarships. Coaches pushed them out behind the scenes without ever owning that publicly. But you don’t see those stories. You just see numbers in the portal and assume it’s all selfish kids running from adversity. You’re not talking to the players. You’re not seeing what really happens. At the same time, those same coaches are hitting refresh on the portal, shopping for new players. They’ll tell one kid they’re “not part of the plan,” and then celebrate when they land a high-profile transfer from another program. Then they’ll start that new player over the one who’s been loyal for three years. And when that player enters the portal next year? They’ll trash him too. Meanwhile, fans and media will scream, “Where’s the loyalty?” But they’ll turn a blind eye when the coach takes a better job and leaves overnight, no exit meeting, no plan, no heads-up. He was doing what’s best for him. But the players aren’t allowed the same grace? The reality is, college sports have become big business. There are schools signing billion-dollar TV deals, and we’re still talking about how a “free education” should be enough? Do you know how hard it is to play a sport and earn a legitimate degree at the same time? Most of the time, they can’t even get into the real programs. They’re steered toward the majors that don’t conflict with practice or travel. Internships, labs, clinicals? All off the table. So don’t act like you gave these athletes some massive life-changing opportunity. You handed them a pre-selected major and an impossible schedule, and in return, they gave you their body, their time, their brand, and everything else. And when they ask for a little leverage, a little control over their future and you get pissed? This whole thing is built on sacrifice and the backs of kids who give up time with their families, who travel year-round, who carry the pressure of entire programs, getting shit on by hundreds of their home fans on social media because they went 0-4 tonight while barely keeping their heads above water academically and emotionally. But when it doesn’t work out, we treat them like they’re selfish for looking for a better situation. If you had a job offer in another state that paid better, was closer to family, and gave you more opportunity—you’d take it. No one would question that. But when a player does it, suddenly it’s betrayal? And let’s not forget—players built these programs. Decades of sacrifice from 18-to-22-year-olds who got nothing while their coaches cashed in, athletic departments built $50M facilities, and schools marketed the hell out of it all. It’s branding. It’s business. It’s not just a game anymore. And if it’s business on one side, it’s business on the other. You don’t get to shame a kid for protecting his future just because it makes your team worse. You don’t get to talk about loyalty while you’re actively replacing your own guys with better ones. You don’t get to be mad at the system while benefitting from it. At the end of the day, players are people. They get to make decisions, too. Give them some damn respect, love, and grace—instead of ignoring the inconvenient facts. You want to talk real numbers? Let’s talk about what people like to avoid because it’s uncomfortable: Between 2002 and 2022, suicide became the second-leading cause of death among NCAA athletes—only behind accidents. Even worse? The rate of suicide among college athletes has doubled over the last two decades. Players today are carrying pressures no one before them ever had to shoulder. (1 of 2)

A bit misleading putting Harper in there. He got his GED then used JUCO as his senior year.

@MattSnyderCBS Enjoyed your article on HOF myths. A Q and comment. If others in found to have taken PEDs should they be booted. An obvious big change unlike the 80s and earlier we can watch all the games. Agree everyone has opinions no one has all the info but we are better informed. Good read

@latsondheimer Ridiculous…. Let’s just play 9 and have 32 or more 16 team single elimination playoffs so every school makes it. This because an at large fits is crap. Just tells a team to be unbelievably bad and you’ll be rewarded but play 4-6 against tough teams and you’re out.

@AndrewTurnerTCN @latsondheimer @mjszabo It’s definitely the rule. But no different in fact and I would consider more appropriate then the defender who who gives the incomplete sign after a receiver doesn’t catch a pass. Or any player jumping up and down after a big play. It actually puts points on the board.

@latsondheimer This is the first penalty handed out for spinning the football. It's done in the back of the end zone and doesn't appear to be done in the direction of anyone in particular. @mjszabo

There's a huge decision coming this morning from Southern Section. Edison is appealing ejection from running back Julius Gillick, who scored six touchdowns last week. His ejection came after spinning a football for celebration and getting excited about a backup RB.

@OCFOOTBALL100 @kentbick @Sunset_Rewind @ocvarsityguy @SteveFryer The cal preps rankings have several flaws and OC didn’t help by changing things while teams had non leagues already in place. Anyone system that has Troy or Brea beating Tesoro is ridiculous. Also needs to come up with a way to increase the values once transfers come in.

@kentbick @Sunset_Rewind @ocvarsityguy @SteveFryer I understand what you mean. But This example isn’t ideal. Because those three bravo teams are all rated well below .. Tustin, capo and El Mo. So they would miss the playoffs in either league looking at the data. Only thing to blame would be the non league …

@tromblybaseball You coaches do it all the time. Don’t lie you stretch the truth all the time. Are you suggesting parents shouldn’t try to give their kids opportunities? Im sure theirs more context to the comment but if parents depended on you coaches to get them to college they’d be retired.

Parents actions absolutely can negatively affect opportunities for their kids. Something big along these lines is happening because of an idiot Dad.
