@adriancummins And there you go, feed a story of 1 billion cost to the public through RTE and build public resentment. It’s easy, we are about to be shafted again 🤦🏻‍♂️

🚨Vat 9 The Department of Finance have long stated that the reinstatement of the 9% VAT rate would cost €545 million and NOT €1 billion. From 2011 to 2014 31,500 jobs were created within the hospitality sector majorly due to the 9% VAT rate. independent.ie/irish-news/wor…

You have to love Dalkey. Just a €120 steak sitting in the middle of one of the meat fridges. That’s almost the price of a bottle of wine.

So here we go, looks like a FF FG coalition propped up by a few power hungry politician, again. Get ready for a pile of broken promises and years of government incompetence, wasting taxpayers money and supporting big foreign business instead of looking after their own🤦🏻‍♂️ #Election2024

All I saw was two power-hungry politicians beating down on the women in the middle. The way they speak to Mary Lou McDonald is truly shameful. The fact that she is well able for them is beside the point. I’m no fan of @sinnfeinireland but they do talk a lot of sense. As for @SimonHarrisTD & @MichealMartinTD kissing each other’s backsides just tells us that they have already decided what the next government is going to look like. This is not good news for small businesses, it’s just more of the same 🤦🏻‍♂️

Watching the RTE news tonight, Micheál Martin of Fianna Fáil was questioned by a coffee shop owner about rising business costs and VAT. While other parties are promising to reduce VAT rates to support small businesses, Fianna Fáil are choosing to ignore the fact that over six hundred restaurants and cafes have gone out of business since the last budget. They’re delighted to be photographed handing out undisclosed amounts of taxpayer money to filthy rich foreign multinationals, who don’t need support, while standing back and watching their own people struggle to keep their businesses afloat. When a politician says they’ll ‘look into it,’ that means they’ll do nothing. Vote wisely for a future in hospitality. @fiannafailparty @adriancummins @CormacDevlin #IrishElection #SupportSmallBusiness”>>

Hi Cormac, firstly, you know I believe you are a very hard working politician who really cares about your constituents. But, FF have lost touch with small Irish businesses and this manifesto that promises to look into the cost of doing business just proves how disconnected FF are. Action is required NOW and kicking the can down the road when the dog on the street can see what is happening is crazy. I watched the IDA on the news recently giving a foreign multinational (one of the richest companies in the world)an undisclosed amount of our tax money to help them create 500 new jobs and make their business even more successful, this while FF and FG allow over 600 Irish businesses (family businesses) go to the wall. Enough is enough Cormac, I would urge people to vote for Irish politicians who put Irish people and Irish businesses first. Ireland need change…

Hi Padraic, thanks for your message. Fine Gael have had the Enterprise brief for almost 14 years. It's not working for small businesses and that needs to change. I've met with businesses across Dun Laoghaire over the past few weeks and one thing that's come up time and time again is a feeling they aren't being consulted as new legislation is being introduced. A business forum will ensure SMEs are heard. Fianna Fáil also want to see costs reduced, we won't be supporting Fine Gael's plan to increase the cost of energy for homes and businesses. We want to see red tape cut so business supports can be accessed with ease, unlike the current situation. We want to work with small businesses, they're the backbone of the economy.
