@Buck_IV_ @garonnevik GSD+ GP can be a nice mix of if your situation requires your dog to protect your flock (or your other dogs) from roaming predators who are not deterred by stares. The GSD+GP is a formidable pre-active hell fighting defender, teeth claws weight and agility.

If you ever get a Great Pyrenees know they don’t fetch. They don’t retrieve. If you throw a ball, they’ll look at you like “well that was stupid. Now you have to go get it.” They’re bred to go on a hilltop with sheep and watch them alone for days. So they expect that you trust them to make their own decisions. They enjoy sitting and observing, and patrolling. Then more observing. Then more patrolling. They like to sleep in places where they can see everything.

Bessie update. She was intended to be an outside only dog, and we’ve had both outside only and inside/outside dogs before. We currently don’t have chickens for her to watch, so the lack of work outside is disorienting to her. This girl HATES to be alone and she’s such a baby, I decided to potty train her, and keep her close just so she could not be scared. She might be the smartest dog we’ve ever had. Such a fast learner!! We got her on Saturday, and since then she’s had 2 small accidents inside, and now she barks to go outside to the bathroom. Great Pyrenees can learn commands, but they prioritize reading the room over obeying commands. Some call that stubborn. It’s been one of the reasons I love this breed, and this is the 3rd GP we’ve had—they just know what to do without me having to tell them. They study situations and patterns and act accordingly. She’s chewing a lot, but that’s just a puppy and she’s starting to even self-redirect to her stuffy when we say “no” to something else. She’ll probably need a lot of space and be more outside when she’s bigger, as her breed tends to need. But for now, she stays close. Even on the leash outside, she never leaves my side or strains away from me. Also, she hates any temperature over 65°F, and sits but the vent on hardwood if possible if it’s even a couple degrees hotter.

@lost_nomad__ Boogie boards and body surfing exist. Also, exploring tide pools and diving on kelp beds are cool. If you want to lounge with the family, not the best option.

The water is cold, the sand is more rough, there is tar on the beach, the water gets deep immediately, it’s a dark blue color Basically no appeal over elsewhere. Again, unless you surf

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a more concerted effort to oust a Republican from office, by other republicans, than what’s been brought to bear against Thomas Massie. I already like the guy but that alone would be enough to make me want him to win.

@MattyRollinsoft @JaredDHardin Santa Monica used to be great, been ruined by city leaders. Throughout S. Cal though, the water is cold. Good waves, cool tide pools in many places. Different than Fla

@JaredDHardin 100% agree. Rented a beach house in Santa Monica last year expecting it to be top shelf. Miserable. Weak beaches. Homeless everywhere. The whole town had a smell. 2/10 experience. The pier was kinda cool.

@canedeeman I think that's good choice. I think that by the time they were deployed the Allies were pretty well on the path to victory. The funny fuse certainly saved a lot of men and shortened the war. Fire control systems in the pacific helped immeasurable over there.

The careless decision to reduce our force posture in Europe, along with moves by Pete Hegseth and his political henchmen to force out some of our finest general officers is amateur hour at best and deadly at worst. Hegseth continues to surprise and disrespect our greatest allies and some of our best military professionals with impulsive decisions not grounded in reality or good judgment. If the rumors are true that Hegseth is trying to sideline General Chris Donahue, one of our nation’s finest warfighters, by downgrading U.S. Army Europe-Africa to a 3-star command, he is taking another step down a dangerous path. A step that is not in the best interests of our nation or our servicemembers. General Donahue has dedicated his entire career to upholding the high standards and warrior ethos that Hegseth claims he is restoring to our ranks. Gen. Donahue has led Soldiers at all levels in Airborne (including Ft. Bragg’s 82nd) and Mechanized units, the 75th Ranger Regiment, and our most prestigious special operation units. He deployed over 20 times in support of Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom, New Dawn, Inherent Resolve, Atlantic Resolve, Freedom’s Sentinel, European Assure, Deter and Reinforce, and in support of the Sudan crisis. Hegseth would do well to surround himself with more patriots like General Donahue and to get his henchmen, who are not qualified to carry Donahue's bag, out of the Pentagon. Keep your word, Mr. Secretary: choose meritocracy over your mediocre yes-men. notus.org/defense/pentag…
