Lockheed Martin unveiled a new lower-cost Patriot interceptor at the Farnborough Airshow, announcing the PAC-3 Adapted Capability Effector (ACE) will cost less than half as much as the current PAC-3 MSE interceptor, which costs roughly $4 million per missile. Lockheed said production could begin within 36 months with U.S. and European industry partners.

According to the New York Times, citing U.S. officials, the soldier killed in Iraq while an Iranian one-way attack drone was being rendered safe was not an explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) technician. Instead, the soldier was struck by blast fragmentation and debris when the drone was detonated.
