@CNviolations The thing that makes a tram a good alternative to a bus is the fact that it has it's own tracks which are separate from the road for private vehicles and so it avoids traffic. This can be achieved much cheaper by building separate roads for a special bus. A trackless tram. or BRT

And by the 2070s we will be deep enough into the climate catastrophe that I dont think any of it will matter. By this point we can just as well sit on the ground and watch it burn

The simple fact of the matter is that trains will never win against planes when a plane ticket is $62 and a train ticket is $400. This must change.

@BurgerPommes @Alstom funny bit: most double deckers in operations stop more often (b/c regional trains) & high speed rail trys to keep stop times below 5 mins. oh and you don't double capacity; it increases maybe by 60 to 80% while decreasing comfort for all passengers.

Well look at this! Incidentally, a platform-mounted gap-filler is the wrong solution (if it breaks, that's the platform out of use, whereas if one breaks on a train it's just the train that's out of use) but still... LEGO further ahead on accessibility than the UK government.
