@MorefiDontRun @Phumla_N Immigrants are not glued to the borders, they are found in municipalities. There are by-laws and some officials just never bothered to do their work and enforce them.

@Phumla_N Political parties are using immigration to campaign for Local Government elections meanwhile SAPS, BMA, SARS and Home Affairs are managed at National level. No wonder we have so many potholes, billing errors, lack of water and electricity supply at municipal level

@Phumla_N But there is a lot that can be done at local level.... Municipalities can be the second line of defence. Illegal immigrants don't stay at the borders, they are found cities, municipalities.

@Chimaob00448343 @SAPoliceService Illegal immigrants are normally out of the formal sector. And these are the most likely to use free health care and education etc. Legal immigrants are likely paying tax subject to type etc... if he is caught at OR Tambo, likely he was legal. By the way, there are no attacks.

#sapsHAWKS Gauteng: A 40-year-old Ghanaian man was arrested at the OR Tambo International Airport on Friday, 01 May 2026, after he was detected on the Movement Control System (MCS) that linked him to a SAPS Linden case. It is alleged that the suspect defrauded SARS by submitting fraudulent tax returns during 2017. SARS has suffered a loss of more than R350 000-00 due to the suspect's illegal activities. @BDamasane @Mngxitama2 @MolebatsiTurf @carorostar The value chain..... it does not start or end at the last mile. If we consolidate retail, we can start integrating backwards. That sector is key if we have to make a dent. Mining getting efficient, more and more automated, but retail includes logistics...

This morning, I shared a post on this platform condemning the tribalism of Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma, who masquerades as a fighter against illegal immigration while pushing xenophobic, Afrophobic and tribalist messages. A lot of her supporters came to my wall to defend her, saying she was young when she posted those things. I do not understand what they mean by young, because Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma is 39 years old, with biographies published this year listing her date of birth as 6 July 1986. They also say those posts were made a while ago. But even if you go back to 2014, she would already have been 27 turning 28 that year. That is not a child. That is not someone too young to understand the meaning of what they are saying. That is an adult who knew exactly what she was doing. And here she is again, just two weeks ago, singing along while insulting the Shangaan ethnic group of South Africa. These are not foreign nationals. She is insulting her own fellow compatriots, fellow South Africans. So this nonsense about youth and old posts does not wash. It is a pattern. She is a tribalist. You can say anything you want, but she is a tribalist. Tribalism should never, ever be defended by anyone with common sense. It is a tool that was used against us as black people on this continent by colonialists and by those who sought to divide African communities. I do not condone illegalities at all. I, just like General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, am opposed to vigilante groups that go around harassing people and demanding proof of immigration status. That is not their job. It is the responsibility of the South African Police Service and the country’s immigration authorities, not random groups taking the law into their own hands. It is dangerous and unacceptable. Once we start allowing people to insult others on the basis of their ethnicity, we are going down a terrible road, one that will tear communities apart. And people like Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma should be condemned in the strongest terms for promoting that kind of division. We have terrible examples on this continent where tribalism was weaponised. In Rwanda, during the 1994 genocide, approximately 800,000 Tutsis and moderate Hutus were massacred in about 100 days because of extremists who used ethnic identity to divide people and gain political power. I urge all Africans, particularly South Africans who have common sense, not to accept this kind of divisive behaviour by people like Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma. Such conduct is poisonous to any society and brings nothing but division. It started with attacks on Zimbabweans and Nigerians, and now it has extended to insulting fellow South African citizens. We have even seen cases where a Venda person was beaten simply for not being able to speak Zulu. That is tribalism, plain and simple. Is that the South Africa you want.

@sandileswana Citizens complains are much more than economic standing, there are security risks, unvetted military-age men who cross, could be coming from prison.... access to amenities, stretched law enforcement. Anyone crossing with no money will commit crime to get by. Impact is wider.

The major universities including UCT, Wits, Stellenbosch, UJ, UKZN and UP have not published any research to demonstrate that the expulsion of illegal immigrants in RSA will improve the economic standing of the black majority in South Africa Research from major South African universities (such as UCT, Wits, Stellenbosch, UJ, UKZN, and UP) largely focuses on the structural, social, and legal complexities of migration, rather than providing evidence that expelling illegal immigrants would improve the economic standing of the black majority. Key findings from academic research regarding this topic include: Job Creation vs. Competition: Studies, including those from the World Bank and University of Cape Town (UCT) researchers, often find that migrants—including those undocumented—can stimulate the economy, with some data suggesting they create jobs for local residents rather than simply taking them. Economic Contribution: Research from institutions like the University of Johannesburg (UJ) and UCT highlights that immigrants frequently engage in entrepreneurship, pay rent to South African landowners, and pay VAT on goods, contributing to the local tax base. Alternative Approaches: Rather than expulsion, research from institutions such as the University of Pretoria (UP) suggests that focusing on socio-economic development, such as improving the skills capacity of local citizens, would be a more effective way to transform the economy. Complexity of Impact: While some, such as studies highlighted in Wits University literature, note that illegal migration can strain resources and create tension, researchers largely argue that the overall economic impact of immigration is complex and cannot be reduced solely to a "negative" impact. Conversely, some research has noted perceptions that undocumented migration strains public resources and increases competition for jobs, particularly in certain sectors. However, broad academic consensus does not support the argument that mass expulsion would lead to an improved economic situation for local citizens.

A serious security breach is under investigation after a break-in at the South African National Defence Force Tekbase facility at Lyttelton Military Base in Pretoria. The break-in occurred on Monday, when a storeroom was forced open, and three R4 rifles and two 40-millimetre multiple rocket launchers were reported missing. The investigation is ongoing, with further verification underway to determine whether additional items are missing. #KayaNews #SANDF SM

Dr. Naledi Pandor says when President Zuma appointed her as the Minister of Home Affairs, it was the hardest department in her political life. This is because of the corruption she found in there whereby our very own public servants were selling ID and visa documents. Now connect the dots with the revelations of Gen. Mkhwanazi and ask yourself how organised crime has been finding expression in our country.
