Lot of discourse over pilot vs episode 1 and this post below is correct!
I think the key factor that maybe isn’t being considered is that Glitch isn’t a traditional studio! We’ve had examples already of how they operate and the MO is clear: the pilot BECOMES episode 1 if the show gets picked up.
We wrote the pilot of Gameoverse accordingly… introducing characters, concepts, rules, themes, and wrapping things up as if it’s a pilot, but also positioning it in canon as if it’s an episode 1… because if we DO get more episodes, I think that it would be confusing for the audience to reboot the show with a “proper”episode 1.
Also consider… if we get more episodes or not, this is the only episode people are going to see for quite some time, or ever. So it should feel wrapped up in a bow, like a pilot!
So… everyone is right about what the difference between a pilot and a first episode are… We simply produced something that acts as both. And I think that’s pretty cool! It’s another neat aspect of producing a show outside of the traditional entertainment system!

Well well well what do you know the Online Safety Act is censoring more than harmful content. If we allow KOSA to pass they will probably do the same in the USA and start censoring even legal speech. This is a huge human rights problem and I refuse to let this pass!

If there’s been any theatre cancellations or an inability to enter a region, we want you to know that we’ve been trying our best. There’s ratings compliance, security policy and legal rules specific to EACH country and theatre chains that we are trying to navigate around the clock. Some regions are straight up rejecting our distribution because there are censorship laws and we refuse to change the original vision of this show. In other regions, there are laws that say we can’t due to how close it is to its streaming release. Any cancellations or refusals have been due to security concerns. For example, one distributor wanted us to email them the raw video file so they could then mail it to ratings agencies by post. This is how leaks happen and we take this very seriously. This however, does not mean we aren’t still trying relentlessly to enter these regions. We also want this finale to be accessible in as many countries as possible. Thank you all for helping the TADC finale get this far.
