someone who owed lots of money to Justin Sun would not hold their money on Tron someone who owed lots of money to Vitalik would still be willing to hold their money on Ethereum someone who owed lots of money to Coinbase would currently not be willing to hold their money on Base someone who owed lots of money to Coinbase would be willing to hold their money on Base if Base were Stage 2 these are the differences, they do matter sometimes a particular asset is so centralized, and you have a good enough relationship with the asset issuer, that this overrides everything and you just don't care about the properties of the system at all BTW I think most likely someone who owed big money to Toly would be willing to hold on Solana, it's not like I'm saying it's a total garbage chain these things do matter though. . .
toly 🇺🇸@toly

40b in stables issued on tron. The only decentralized part of the network the issuer needs is to run a full node. That’s sufficient to ensure that even if 100% is the rest of the network is faulty that the issuer is safe. It doesn’t matter what the economic security of the network looks like.

@a1lon9 @rbthreek @surfcoderepeat Not hating, but this is kind of my initial thinking: why FP isn't doing so well is because the 4% fee, given back to players and the team, "comes at the expense of traders". What are your thoughts?

@rbthreek my point is that you can be creator/dev friendly, but it can't come at the expense of traders

traders are easily the most important user group in crypto - not creators, not devs if traders don't see value, creators & devs don't eat and go elsewhere so if you're tokenizing anything, traders come first

@hi_im_nico @tkstanczak I think it will be so competitive, even seen as a default L2 for newcomers, which may discourage external companies like Sony and CB from putting more effort into improving and marketing their own L2s.

Our discussions about the Layer 1 scaling roadmap have been extensive, and the feedback so far suggests that the community appreciates our ambition. Turning that ambition into reality now depends on the focus of the core development teams and researchers. Following the recent changes in leadership at the Ethereum Foundation, we aimed, among other things, to free more of Vitalik’s time for research and exploration, rather than day‑to‑day coordination or crisis response. Each time Vitalik shares insights or communicates a direction, he accelerates major long‑term breakthroughs. His recent posts on RISC‑V and zkVMs have advanced promising avenues, while his writing on privacy has helped realign the community around the Ethereum Foundation’s core values. I want to make clear that Vitalik’s proposals will always carry weight, but they are intended to start conversations and encourage progress in difficult research areas. Community review may refine them significantly or even reject them. We want the same freedom for our other researchers, who show courage by posing difficult questions and suggesting alternative approaches, for example @drakefjustin and @dankrad. Ethereum researchers often ask that readers recognize the exploratory nature of their posts and proposals. Focus remains essential. Within the EF we will shift much of our research effort toward near‑term goals, aiming to address user experience and scaling challenges in the next two protocol upgrades. We are concentrating on Layer 1 scaling, support for Layer 2 scaling, and significant UX improvements (including interoperability) in the Pectra, Fusaka, and Glamsterdam upgrades. In parallel we are exploring ways to bring forward projects that currently look three to five years away. Posts from our top researchers help some of them to ship within one or two years through initiatives such as next‑generation execution and consensus layers.

@ngmingmingmi @0xnobi If the base official account flaunch it, people will definitely trade it. It's not about Zora or Flaunch. It's base's official account. There are as many dead "content coins" on Zora as dead memecoins on Flaunch.

let the record show that if this was flaunched and did $10.2m in volume, they'd have made $102,000 in 57 minutes nearly 4x more, all paid as eth there's a huge disconnect in saying you support creators vs actually supporting creators with revenue

@arjunbhuptani @gakonst Maybe I am silly, but if I do gas sponsor on my own app chain, there won't be any revenue to catch, or is there any other source of revenue for an app chain? Just curious.

@gakonst If you're just starting out, you deploy to an existing chain ecosystem willing to accelerate you If you have pmf and traction, you deploy your own app rollup and capture revenue > General purpose chains will likely become incubators

I think user-facing interop will be solved this year & integrated well in wallets. Solvers pull funds from any origin chain you've authorized, and you only interact with the destination chain. Done, simple. What seems pretty underexplored is the contract side, where do I deploy?

@gill_kyle Just notice the logo ui shift on mobile. Share it here in case u want to fix it. If the logo can keep at the same position after the menu is open, that might feel better. Very clean landing page. Love it.

In 2021 we built an onchain app store that installed apps into your wallet[1][2][3] One reason it didn't scale is that the major wallets didn't use to want to be app stores. Our app store had no distribution. Now wallets/platforms want to be app stores... Suggest our major wallets/orgs collab on a standard app store for good of eth. When a dev builds an eth app, they should be able to publish it into The Ethereum App Store and have it automatically installable on farcaster, worldchain, etc. with no further action required. Farcaster mini apps have important differences compared to world apps. In some ways they are more divergent than apple app store vs android. There's natural fragmentation in the new world of crypto mini apps/wallet app stores. Finding ways to overcome this fragmentation, so that devs can just "publish on Ethereum" and get automatic multi-distribution to all major channels, seems like a goal worth exploring - One Ethereum [1]x.com/ryanberckmans/… [2]x.com/ryanberckmans/… [3]github.com/web3-byoa/whit…

we really need an app store for crypto missing out on so missing things just because it’s so hard to find tbh
