Chelsea’s next coach doesn’t matter. What really matters is the decisions the person in charge of building the squad will make. Even if they somehow could convince Pep or Enrique to join, they wouldn’t succeed with Fofana and company. A deep rebuild is needed.

The comment around the core group caught my eye and got me thinking… You have these six “pillars” (Enzo Fernandez situation pending, but I believe we sign another midfielder this summer either way) Certain positions they clearly can trust what we have/want to fully invest into potential (Penders in goal, Cucu/Hato at LB, hopefully Josh as one of the CB options atleast) ~ you then also have Joao Pedro who they didn’t mention as “core” but he’s definitely a starting level CF for the next few seasons if you get other areas right So for me, yet again, the two positions you can’t cop out on this summer is CB and LW ~ the model being tweaked should mean signing two starter level players (one for each position) who fit with the OTHER CORE PLAYERS from a balance perspective
