@CMOS76 @dvorstone That's literally what "turn the other cheek" means, gang. Don't elevate small sleights, don't take joy in destroying evil. Just destroy it. It's kinda the point of Old Yeller.

The humiliation of the villain is a sign of sadism from the culture that savors it. Homelander is truly a villain but he was used to pain and suffering and was filled with rage. He would not have begged and pleaded for life. The show's portrayal is utterly inconsistent with how people like him behave. It's a sadistic fantasy that betrays the sadistic convictions of the writers. They sought to humiliate the villain, but Homelander isn't real and they are. Ironically, in the end, it is the showrunners themselves who end up being the show's true villains.
Emir Han@RealEmirHan

In The Boys finale, Homelander had to look powerless according to Eric Kripke “Yeah, it was really important to us for Homelander to at least experience a little bit of time powerless.” “People have asked me, ‘Well, why don’t you send him out in the world powerless, wouldn’t that be the ultimate punishment?’ “I’m like, it would, until he gets his hands on some more Compound V, and then you’re back to where you started.” “So, he cannot walk out of that room alive, but we can spend time with him powerless to really reveal what everyone’s been saying all season, which is, ‘Take away those powers and you are nothing.’ “And he’s so cowardly and blubbering and pathetic, as are most strong men when you remove their power and they’re and they’re faced with their imminent death, they rarely handle it bravely.”

Homelander dying in the end is fine, and yes I know he has a childish nature about him which remained a core part of his character but his death could have been written so so differently as opposed to Kripke's sick mind making sex jokes 🤦‍♂️ HL is a multi layered character with

Stephen Colbert will go down as the person who destroyed Late Night TV. He made the decisions to take the show as political, ratings took a nose dive and he doubled down on his political heavy content and it finished him and he blames everyone but himself. Colbert was a disaster, he should never been selected at the person to lead that show. Good riddance, he’s gone!

Opinion: Ultimately, Colbert’s departure is no loss for American culture. The nation needs unifying voices more than polarization in comedy shows. usatoday.com/story/opinion/…

@CMOS76 Yes. Enjoying the suffering of another is the definition of sadism. The nature of that person is irrelevant.

My take on the price of food debate... These kids want to have their cake and eat it, too. They want to live an expensive lifestyle and also build wealth, and they think that it's not only possible, but normal. That's why they're upset - they're learning they can't do both.

@HRH_SHP Aldi was a godsend in college. Now, it's a prime example of what happens when a high trust society imports third worlders. The whole shtick of Aldi is less employees and the savings are passed on. When the consumers became nasty slobs, Aldi gained the smell you keep mentioning

Okay, you all lied. Today I tried my fourth Aldi’s location. The smell hit me on the way in, rotten produce. Went to the cheeses, lots out of date. The bread was cold and apparently thawing. The one nasty cashier was still there but this one had four self checkout machines. I used one, tried to leave, nasty cashier snapped at me to scan my receipt because “people steal.” Bonus: bags were available for 14¢. I got one. It seems thin, it’ll probably rip on the way into my house. No more tries from me. My daughter declared it the worst store ever.

Somebody gave me ugly comments because yea....I am going to question Kyle Busch dying at 41. I am 41. This is not normal. Regardless... you are right about the covid vaccines. We dont know if he took it, but it's not taboo when millions of people were told to take a vaccine and lied to about side effects. Then dying suddenly. Stop burying your head. The LEAST you can do is QUESTION THE $CIENCE.
Cynthia Holt@Ghostofcynthia

Dying from a sinus cold at 41 is extraordinarily uncommon in modern medicine, think lottery ticket rare if you're otherwise healthy. I'm extremely sad for his family but I'm highly suspicious. Why wouldn't I be? When the fucking government tried to kill us all and many millions are still walking around with ticking time-bombs in their system. Everyone is already thinking the "poison shot" the moment anyone young dies. I'm also thinking why are none of those people in fucking prison yet.
