Fable is a different type of technology. I watched computers arrive in the early 90s. Stayed up for RuneScape's 2005 Christmas event. By 2006 I was hosting a private server over Hamachi, held together by a Notepad++ window that could never close. Then two decades of life took me nowhere near software engineering. The obsession never died — it just waited. I've always done math backwards. I was visualizing motions and quaternions in my head before I knew the semantics for any of it. No curriculum ever fit how I think. (I still do) When I came back to building, I tried Opus, Sonnet, Codex, Gemma, Llama. Used Opus most, liked it least. Honestly, I despised LLMs. Then one prompt to Fable: "Critique me as a senior engineer who took me on for the unorthodox math and creative solutions to problems you can't solve." What came back let me fix the flaws I'd been blaming Opus for. Now I just know how to strengthen my own machine. The trick isn't treating the LLM as an oracle or an adversary. It's a mirror — blunt enough to be useful. Fable didn't make me believe in AI. It made me better at being me.
