Have people considered 'why' Saylor is doing it? They're building an indestructible balance sheet. Unfortunately, despite having 30 years of dividend coverage in Bitcoin (despite a 50% drawdown), the world doesn't value Bitcoin as highly as USD. There's fear in the market that without a USD reserve, Strategy 'wont be able to pay the dividend payments' from their preferreds. This is illogical considering they can raise $500m in a week, but hey ho. Also, the agencies that rate them to get into the S&P 500, value the Bitcoin at $0 if they refuse to sell it. Over the last 3 months they've: Sold MSTR for Bitcoin Sold MSTR for USD Sold STRC for Bitcoin Bought back STRC using MSTR Sold Bitcoin to pay dividends Sold Bitcoin to add USD to the reserve. Used USD to buy back convertible debt Built a USD reserve to cover 2.1 years of dividend coverage. All at the bottom of a bear market whilst FUD is at al time highs. They're simply demonstrating the optionality they have with their balance sheet. Showing that their Bitcoin is money & valuable, bringing confidence back to STRC investors that they have the ability to pay back the dividend obligations & also give confidence to the S&P 500 agencies that their balance sheet is a fortress. The stock price isnt the number one priority at the momsnt because in 5 years when they have over 1 million BTC, the Bitcoin price is $400k and they're sat in the S&P 500, their share price will be 10x where it is today. They have a low time preference. Anyone in Bitcoin or considering buying MSTR should have the same outlook.

Is this just retarded? They were raising funds to buy Bitcoin at all time highs. Bitcoin is at a 50% discount and they are raising fiat as a security to pay dividends in fiat. The bitcoin price will then hit all time high and they'll start buying bitcoin again. Raising fiat to pay for old debt in fiat and recycling is the definition of a P......

@comic A bank's profit is asset yield minus funding cost on a levered balance sheet. Same equation here — the asset return just arrives as appreciation instead of interest, & issuance above net book adds to it. The income statement looks different, the balance-sheet math is identical.

A Bitcoin treasury company is a levered holder of a single asset. That makes it a bank, and nobody values a bank on gross assets. $MSTR just confirmed the point: its own dashboard now leads with net book per share.
