@MichelleBeckett They’ve also (in theory) had 4 days worth of training and induction, that other newbie Kirklees councillors have said was comprehensive and useful. So either they didn’t bother attending or didn’t learn for whatever reason

My daughter was elected as a city councillor when she was 18, the youngest in the country at the time. (11 years ago) She worked her butt off beforehand (and afterwards) to ensure she knew all there is to know about how local government works. She was brilliant and did some important work. She knew all this backwards before she got in the chamber. This is outrageous incompetence. I wouldn’t dream of voting Reform, but this should give pause to anyone remotely considering it.
Parody Nigel Farage@Parody_PM

New Reform councillors off to a great start by refusing to vote on anything because they haven't a clue what anything means, how anything works or what the fuck they are doing. Vote Reform, get lazy, incompetent, ignorant morons.

🚨 SHOCKING — These are the exact same Reform activists who flood X every day screaming, lecturing, and telling everyone how Britain should be run… Yet 24 hours after getting elected in Kirklees, they stand up in full council and admit: “I don’t understand the Constitution… I don’t understand standing orders… I don’t understand what an amendment is.” Then they whine it’s “not democratic” they might vote on things they don’t understand This is the terrifying danger of populist rage politics: loud online warriors with ZERO clue how to actually govern. Handing real power to people who don’t even know where to start is how countries collapse. Watch this embarrassment 👇👇👇👇CC: @LesTrumpeter

@King0243_PJC Much as I deplore the chancers of Reform, I think everyone should get at least a day's induction on joining a new organisation.

@Scampicus @King0243_PJC @louderry Kirklees had a 4 day induction including a session on constitution etc. other newbie councillors have stated (before this came out) that training had been very comprehensive and informative

@King0243_PJC @louderry Well in fairness and I’m no fan of Reform, in a good Council the CEO would strange a comprehensive induction course with all the necessary back up information to explain everything. No one is born knowing this stuff. I was in Loc Govt & we had to do it every 4 years.

@KimFederalist2 @iamAtheistGirl All those traits you mentioned were integral to human evolution. Compassion, empathy, altruism, cooperation, knowing right/wrong, etc., existed before modern humans. Many of these traits are seen in other primates and social animals as well. No god needed.

Polanski forgot to pay council tax when he lived on a houseboat. But that's nothing; Jeremy Hunt forgot he owned seven flats and Nigel Farage forgot his girlfriend bought him a £900,000 house in Clacton.

Tesco could pay every worker an extra £10,000 and still make a profit. British Gas could pay every worker an extra £35,000 and still make a profit. Shell could pay every worker an extra £300,000 and still make a profit. It is the billionaires who are ripping you off.

@RightLogic2 @Helen_Whately Mum has a blue badge. Sometimes we take her out in Mr Ducks high performance car. She’s not driving it, she hasn’t paid for it, and it’s not a motobility car. Some people with blue badges have friends and family who care about them and take them out in their ‘posh’ cars

My brother cheated on his wife and she filed for divorce. Our mom advised him to fight for custody of their two kids, so he did and he won. But now he regrets it because taking care of the children alone is harder than he expected. His ex only visits once a week while he struggles to manage everything, and the woman he cheated with already left him for someone richer. Now he says no young woman wants to be with him, and he doesn’t want to marry a single mother. He asked his ex to contribute more towards the children’s upkeep since she earns more money, but she refused. She only pays their school fees and takes them out for fun. He thought winning custody was the right decision… but now he isn’t so sure anymore.

@theliamnissan @HELLANBIGLOVE Coastal refineries/petrochemical plants often use sea water for cooling. You just need to be mindful of materials of construction, which as you’d expect cost more. Desalination is very energy intensive.

If ocean water is too corrosive to cool data centers then we should force the richest people in the world to build desalinization plants. At least it would mean extra drinking water for, you know, actual people.
