CRIL staff at work on our stall at Coalville market on Saturday. A successful event providing an opportunity to meet the public and hear their views and to sell our calendar. Sales going well, we recommend placing orders to crilchair@gmail.com to avoid disappointment.

We have booked a stall in the Coalville indoor market on Saturday 26th September. In the absence of events due to Covid this is one way of gathering support for our campaign. It is also an opportunity to sell CRIL calendars which will give our campaign fund a much needed boost.

Launching the UK's first modern emission-free battery train @bonessrailway in 2018! Thanks to @transcotland and @ScotRail for their help getting this new technology demonstrated. Today our 2nd generation batteries have a range of up to 100 miles and recharge in 10 minutes!

It was good to get out with the display and "touch elbows" with the public on Friday. We received expressions of support and had some interesting conversations about the line. We look forward to our next outing.

We will be exhibiting at a public event at Sharp's Pottery, Swadlincote on Friday 24th July. The event will be open between 11:00-15:00 hrs and Covid-19 safety measures will be in place. This is the first time in action for our new display, if you are passing pop in for a chat.

We met with our DfT support team in the RYR process yesterday and received our homework! All very positive and constructive at this stage.

@christianwolmar I spotted your freudian slip! I agree with what you say but after attending the DfT briefing yesterday I am much more confident in the approach being taken.

Attended the excellent DfT briefing for "Restoring Your Railway" yesterday. We are very much looking forward to working with their support team to take our project forward.

@MidsConnect @Andrew4Pendle We wholeheartedly agree, if HS2 is not connected to the wider network it will not deliver the capacity benefits it promises. We at CRIL include ourselves in the "wider network" but as yet remain unrecognised.

Vital that HS2 is connected to the wider network + that benefits are brought to our communities sooner - we'll be discussing #MidlandsEngineRail and more, with @Andrew4Pendle. The Midlands must play a central role in Government's #IntegratedRailPlan gov.uk/government/new…

The Ivanhoe line will host the HS2b marshalling yard and virtual quarry and will bear the brunt of the disruption but will not share equally the resulting increased connectivity.
