Texas is funny in that these people that supposedly everyone hates will win elections time after time.
Rick Perry supposedly hated because of the use of eminent domain and HPV vaccine.
Greg Abbott hated for I don't know what.
Ken Paxton hated for I don't know what.
Supposedly hated, but by not enough people, I guess.

@CurtisHouck The greatest live TV I've ever watched was CBS News November 8, 2016 when Scott Pelley CLEARLY and VISIBLY came to the realization Trump was taking North Carolina.

REMINDER: there is NO HUNGER STRIKE at Delaney Hall. There are no subprime conditions.
ALL detainees are provided with 3 meals a day, clean water, clothing, bedding, showers, soap, toiletries, and opportunities to communicate with their family members and lawyers.
Aliens are also provided comprehensive healthcare — For many illegal aliens this is the BEST healthcare they have received their entire lives.

This is San Antonio, Texas
San Antonio is run by Democrats. Their Mayor is a Democrat and 90% of top leadership positions are Democrat
Homelessness continues to rise in San Antonio, it’s up over 14% in 2 years
Homeless deaths are up 95% in Bexar County
Yet San Antonio has one of the largest homeless service systems in the US, but the homeless problem is increasing….
Does anyone else see a pattern here…. The more you spend the more homeless increases. It’s a business

Presbyterian Church USA and United Methodist Church should probably merge and call themselves something that does not include the words Methodist or Presbyterian.
They could be the LGBTQ+ Worship Church, or something.
Then we can correctly identify them, and we can have, like, Presbyterians and Methodists again.
English

@marcthiessen I think our Texas DPS (Highway Patrol) boats could probably give those guys a run for their money.
3 300hp Mercury motors has to be pretty quick.

@The_Nik_Dawg @penishorts 4 chili dogs for $4 on Wednesdays here. Probably everywhere.
I worked there summer of 1978. It was still DerWienerschnitzel then, of course.
English

@penishorts And the weinerdude that hung on the antenna for dear life.

@CharlieGalvinTX @walterwhitepill Thailand; at the tiger zoo
200 baht for Thais; 350 baht for all others
Pricing different for foreigners has always been the standard of the folks in SouthEast Asia.
.

English

@walterwhitepill Have you ever been to another country, it's the same, locals get discounted rates, nothing wrong with that
English

@DrNemoOutis @OldRowSwig I'd bet you're right about the "all shifts thing".
I worked at McDonald' in '80-'81 while in High School.
I wonder why "all shifts" is a concern now.
Is it lazy Management, or is it older or foreign people trying to get over 40 hours at a damn McDonalds?
English

@OldRowSwig I dont think those places even look at teens' applications anymore, since they can't work all shifts. None of my kids' friends can get interviews, which seems crazy for fast food that's understaffed.
English

They gave all of the jobs meant for high schoolers to 40 year old illegal aliens who don’t speak a lick of English.
First Squawk@FirstSquawk
YOUTH UNEMPLOYMENT IS SURGING ACROSS THE ENGLISH-SPEAKING WORLD, AND THE U.S. IS NO EXCEPTION

@m4ttk3nt @OldRowSwig I had a route at 11-years-old. 1973 in Norfolk VA. I threw the afternoon paper.

English

@OldRowSwig This is old news.
When I left my paper route in 1988, which I started as a 12-year old and left as a 14-year old, the route was taken over by middle-aged Vietnamese men with a pickup truck.
No such thing as a "paper boy" anymore. This was THE iconic American "first job."
English

@bennyjohnson He needs an Endorsement for the transport of passengers for that bus.
This means a driving test for the CDL, and then another for that Endorsement.
English

Five innocent people are dead in Virginia.
Among them a 13 year old girl. A 7 year old boy.
They were killed when a bus slammed into stopped traffic.
The driver was an immigrant from China who does not speak English.
Can't read road signs. Can't communicate with law enforcement.
New York State gave him a commercial license anyway.
Democrat-run states handing out CDLs to unqualified drivers need to be held accountable.
The federal government is now investigating New York's licensing records.
It's long overdue.
Praying for the victims and their families. 🙏🏻🇺🇸

@dmbkparker I ran out of the building Forest Gump style when I got mine.

@JebraFaushay If you're not paying attention to what you're doing, you could hurt yourself when you slam that one Marcia has.
Jenny's would be way better for slamming.

He actually attends Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, which is an official seminary of PC(USA). He also attends a PC(USA) church.
PC(USA) is the variant of Presbyterian that is into the LGBTQ business, and what-not.
PC(USA) is COMPLETELY different from the Presbyterian Church in America [PCA] and the Evangelical Presbyterian Church [EPC].
English

@Sassafrass_84 @BAMAPERRY Yup! He’s a bad example of a Texan! Wonder how he made it out of Presbyterian Seminary? Guess it didn’t sink in!
English

@CarolineWren I remember Wendy Davis who stood in the state house filabustering for abortions...she was so inflamed that she was getting pushback.... SHE LOST !!!
English

Yes it’s a “stunning coup” that the Houston Chronicle endorsed James Talarico given their history of endorsing (checks notes):
Barack Obama (2008)
Hillary Clinton (2016)
Joe Biden (2020)
Kamala Harris (2024)
Wendy Davis (2014)
Beto O’Rourke (2018)
Democratic Wins Media@DemocraticWins
BREAKING: In a stunning coup against Ken Paxton, the Houston Chronicle, one of the largest papers in Texas, just endorsed James Talarico. Let's go!
English

@ScottJenningsKY The Democrats are going to have to put the full legalization of any kind of marijuana you want on the ballot just to get people who might vote for this guy to the polls.
English

@GregPalm2 @seanmdav That's actually just a little over 600 lbs. of gold.
English

This doesn’t pass the smell test. Where did he really get the gold from, and for what purpose?
The Washington Post@washingtonpost
A former CIA official has been accused of stealing 303 gold bars worth more than $40 million from the spy agency and stashing them in his Virginia residence, according to a criminal complaint and current and former U.S. officials. wapo.st/4fhKehr
English

@RealSKeshel In the heyday of wokeness, Wendy Davis couldn't beat Abbott, yet someone thinks Talarico might beat Paxton.
Wendy, Beto, Talarico? These people don't get past some State office.
English

One of Talarico’s biggest problems is that the 2018 Senate clunker (Cruz +2.6%) happened. O’Rourke had a lot more going for him than Talarico does, was a sitting US Rep, and worked his ass off.
While he was sitting in suburbia picking off Abbott voters, Cruz was in Pampa trying to run up the score and down in Laredo trying to go for the jugular when he should have just lined up in a goal line set and hit the GOP strongholds, and won by about 7.
There’s no sneaking up this time, and now the Latino vote is much stronger for the GOP after 8 years to shift around - then you have all the Florida style +1s from other states moving to Texas.
English

I think that's probably a pretty good analysis.
It's been 10 or 8 years since Cruz has been able to get out the Trump vote. Cruz has been yesterday's news for a long time.
I get that my own experience is anecdotal, but:
I decided a couple years ago that I'd never again vote, because ALL these people just suck.
I voted Paxton in March and May. This because he actually knows something. I hear Glenn Beck talking about pistol braces, and it's just painful to listen because he knows nothing about it. Ken calls in, and he knows everything there is to know about it. He'd be just about the only Congressperson that knows these things.
As for money: I will never again contribute to a political campaign. This because of how I couldn't escape phone calls from Cruz's people.
The mail from Cruz's people, I could throw away, J guess. El Chapo gets arrested, and freakin' Cruz sends me mail telling me I need to send him money to finance his effort to take all of El Chapo's money. That money was to be used pay for the Border Wall. Just unbelievable.
English

@RealSKeshel Safe to expect roughly '22 levels for the Hispanics vote imo. Paxton has Abbot on the ballot with him which should help a ton and he has the ability to turn out Trump voters which Cruz did not.
