Texas is funny in that these people that supposedly everyone hates will win elections time after time. Rick Perry supposedly hated because of the use of eminent domain and HPV vaccine. Greg Abbott hated for I don't know what. Ken Paxton hated for I don't know what. Supposedly hated, but by not enough people, I guess.

The excuses for a thing Graham Platner personally put & kept in permanent ink on his own chest for 2 decades from people who made a stink about something written on a rock by prior owners of property owned by Rick Perry's dad and removed from view by the Perrys.

@CurtisHouck The greatest live TV I've ever watched was CBS News November 8, 2016 when Scott Pelley CLEARLY and VISIBLY came to the realization Trump was taking North Carolina.

CBS's Scott Pelley reportedly told new '60 Minutes' boss Nick Bilton that “I find it odd that you would take this job knowing that you would never be welcomed here.” Fire. Him. Now. If this happened in just about any other profession, they'd be hauled out by security ASAP.

REMINDER: there is NO HUNGER STRIKE at Delaney Hall. There are no subprime conditions. ALL detainees are provided with 3 meals a day, clean water, clothing, bedding, showers, soap, toiletries, and opportunities to communicate with their family members and lawyers. Aliens are also provided comprehensive healthcare — For many illegal aliens this is the BEST healthcare they have received their entire lives.

Presbyterian Church USA and United Methodist Church should probably merge and call themselves something that does not include the words Methodist or Presbyterian. They could be the LGBTQ+ Worship Church, or something. Then we can correctly identify them, and we can have, like, Presbyterians and Methodists again.

@DrNemoOutis @OldRowSwig I'd bet you're right about the "all shifts thing". I worked at McDonald' in '80-'81 while in High School. I wonder why "all shifts" is a concern now. Is it lazy Management, or is it older or foreign people trying to get over 40 hours at a damn McDonalds?

@OldRowSwig I dont think those places even look at teens' applications anymore, since they can't work all shifts. None of my kids' friends can get interviews, which seems crazy for fast food that's understaffed.

@OldRowSwig This is old news. When I left my paper route in 1988, which I started as a 12-year old and left as a 14-year old, the route was taken over by middle-aged Vietnamese men with a pickup truck. No such thing as a "paper boy" anymore. This was THE iconic American "first job."

Five innocent people are dead in Virginia. Among them a 13 year old girl. A 7 year old boy. They were killed when a bus slammed into stopped traffic. The driver was an immigrant from China who does not speak English. Can't read road signs. Can't communicate with law enforcement. New York State gave him a commercial license anyway. Democrat-run states handing out CDLs to unqualified drivers need to be held accountable. The federal government is now investigating New York's licensing records. It's long overdue. Praying for the victims and their families. 🙏🏻🇺🇸

He actually attends Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary, which is an official seminary of PC(USA). He also attends a PC(USA) church. PC(USA) is the variant of Presbyterian that is into the LGBTQ business, and what-not. PC(USA) is COMPLETELY different from the Presbyterian Church in America [PCA] and the Evangelical Presbyterian Church [EPC].

Yes it’s a “stunning coup” that the Houston Chronicle endorsed James Talarico given their history of endorsing (checks notes): Barack Obama (2008) Hillary Clinton (2016) Joe Biden (2020) Kamala Harris (2024) Wendy Davis (2014) Beto O’Rourke (2018)

James Talarico being popular among donors in California and New York is never going to wash off the weirdness of the 6 genders thing, the meat thing, or the "God is non-binary" thing. Good luck finding a plurality of Texans who are ready to get on board that crazy train.

One of Talarico’s biggest problems is that the 2018 Senate clunker (Cruz +2.6%) happened. O’Rourke had a lot more going for him than Talarico does, was a sitting US Rep, and worked his ass off. While he was sitting in suburbia picking off Abbott voters, Cruz was in Pampa trying to run up the score and down in Laredo trying to go for the jugular when he should have just lined up in a goal line set and hit the GOP strongholds, and won by about 7. There’s no sneaking up this time, and now the Latino vote is much stronger for the GOP after 8 years to shift around - then you have all the Florida style +1s from other states moving to Texas.

I think that's probably a pretty good analysis. It's been 10 or 8 years since Cruz has been able to get out the Trump vote. Cruz has been yesterday's news for a long time. I get that my own experience is anecdotal, but: I decided a couple years ago that I'd never again vote, because ALL these people just suck. I voted Paxton in March and May. This because he actually knows something. I hear Glenn Beck talking about pistol braces, and it's just painful to listen because he knows nothing about it. Ken calls in, and he knows everything there is to know about it. He'd be just about the only Congressperson that knows these things. As for money: I will never again contribute to a political campaign. This because of how I couldn't escape phone calls from Cruz's people. The mail from Cruz's people, I could throw away, J guess. El Chapo gets arrested, and freakin' Cruz sends me mail telling me I need to send him money to finance his effort to take all of El Chapo's money. That money was to be used pay for the Border Wall. Just unbelievable.

@RealSKeshel Safe to expect roughly '22 levels for the Hispanics vote imo. Paxton has Abbot on the ballot with him which should help a ton and he has the ability to turn out Trump voters which Cruz did not.
