Congrats to @BradBuckleyDVM & his legislative colleagues for delivering a Texas-sized universal Education Savings Account program to the Lone Star State with this morning’s House vote. The path to #SchoolChoice in TX has been a long and winding one, 28 years in the making. A 🧵

BREAKING: Texas House just passed UNIVERSAL SCHOOL CHOICE. The vote was 85 to 63. The Senate already passed a similar bill 19 to 12. Texas will be the 16th state to pass universal school choice. This is the way.

These states have school choice programs that allow for universal usage of funds by the families who utilize them. Having this type of flexibility is important because families should have a wide range of options to choose from to educate their student. More information about each of these programs can be found in our newest edition of the ABCs of School Choice. edchoice.org/wp-content/upl…

Lost in all of the excitement over downsizing the @usedgov is that this wouldn't be the first time. There's precedent! A year after Andrew Johnson signed into law the Dept. of Ed in 1867, it was demoted to a small office of ed.

Branding / marketing observation that a lot of colleges don’t get: This directly appeals to a special kind of student. And that raises the profile of an entire institution—including for students to whom it doesn’t directly appeal.

Look at this beautiful stack! These are the books for students in their first semester in the Honors College @utulsa. Our first course is titled "The Three Ancient Cities: Athens, Rome, Jerusalem" 🤓🦉📚

@AlisonHeapeJohn & @jbmcgee report a 15% funding gap between traditional public and public charter schools in Arkansas (2022-23). These funding disparities are NOT explained by demographic differences or variation in learning needs of students served by each sector 📚🍎💵
