@theoldworldshow One of my ancestors was John Ratcliffe, the villain in Disney's Pocahontas and the second president of the Jamestown colony. In 1609 he went to the Indian settlement to trade for desperately needed food and was flayed to death by indians with muscle shells.

The Year is 1622 Virginia is finally becoming prosperous thanks to the "stinking weed", tobacco. There's peace with the natives, also thanks to John Rolfe, who married Pocahontas The settlers think they can convert the Indians to Christianity, and so welcome them into their homes, settlements, and plantations as friends rather than avowed enemies And then on March 22, the Indians treacherously breach the peace. Taking advantage of the settlers' hospitality and wish to convert them, they fan out across the settlements and enter the homes of those who think them friends. And then, all at once, they strike and kill those friends. They kill men, women, and children alike, and wipe out a third of the colony in one devastating stroke Yet Virginia survived, and by the time the war ended ten years later, had effectively ended the Indian threat in the Tidewater for good But conversion and friendship were forever off the table as a general thing after this point, as the treachery had been stunning, and that mistake was not to be repeated

I have a question for the Japanese: What is your reflexive reaction to the idea of Americans moving to the Japanese countryside in order to farm and build a network of rural communities with western values and a dedication to defend the island and it's interests?

@AtomicBeelzebub @LogoSimian While I doubt this will ever happen, I think it would be interesting to watch the ever-westward settlers and pioneering Americans cross the pacific in order to populate the Japanese countryside. I wonder what the Japanese would think of this deal?

@LogoSimian The proper solution would be to somehow form a pacific free movement treaty like the EU with them where japanese people are allowed into the US for housing and work (vice versa as well) as well as zero trade restrictions. Whatever the answer is Japan-US allyship should grow more.

@Altermerea @vanillaopinions Not typically a sink pisser, but I used to live in a 5 bed 1 bath house. Key was that each bedroom had it's own sink. Imagine winter, you are warm in bed and the urge hits you, you can either walk down the cold hallway and hope the bathroom is free or make do and get back to bed.

OVER ONE HUNDRED MILES AN HOUR…AND IN SECONDS, A TRAFFIC STOP TURNED INTO A WAR ZONE. HOW DOES A SIMPLE TRAFFIC STOP TURN INTO GUNFIRE ON A HIGHWAY? On Interstate 88 in Duanesburg, New York, what started as a routine stop spiraled into gunfire. Troopers say passenger Nelson Troche reached across the driver and fired out the window, striking Trooper Richard Albert in the shoulder. In the chaos that followed, Troche and driver Alicia Eriole allegedly tried to flee…even attempting to carjack another vehicle. A truck driver stepped up and blocked their escape. Troche ran into the woods and was later found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Eriole was arrested at the scene. Prosecutors say she reclined her seat so Troche could fire at the trooper. She later pleaded guilty to criminal facilitation and now faces four to twelve years in prison. All of this…from a speeding stop. AT WHAT POINT DOES RECKLESS DRIVING BECOME A CHOICE THAT DESTROYS MULTIPLE LIVES?

@negafops @deltaIV9250 The dark forest theory says life is very common, but the only life that survives is life wise enough to conceal itself. This stems from the proposition that there is no good way to verify another civilization's intentions.

@deltaIV9250 If there were life on mars, the literal planet next door, then that would mean that life itself is disgustingly common in the universe and that is very much not the case

I understand nasa wants totally 100% verifiable proof of life on mars before saying anything but there comes a point where you just have to say “look, you know it’s life, we know it’s life”

@RhodiumMaiden @ItIsHoeMath Homosexuality in women exists and is a biological adaptation to broadly practiced polgyny in history. In short, women who "enjoyed women" were better adapted to polygynous circumstances and disproportionately passed on those genes. Explains why most women have lesbian fantasies.

"Rarely, some people turn out homosexual, which means a boy who likes a boy or a girl who likes a girl, and you should leave them alone as long as they don't bother anybody." This is 100% of the education that young people need about LGBT issues. Everything beyond this is just a sales pitch for being a violent pervert.

Can we invent a new term for cringe or effeminate besides “gay”. The thing is I don’t even dislike homosexuals and it feels sloppy to implicate them in this. We need to be making new terms to take control of the language so why not start here

@dispatch_fox @_uwomy wondering about this myself. One one hand, a security flaw if Antifa got up on top of the ice facility without their knowledge. On the other, I don't think an Antifa type would likely release this video.

@whatifalthist I think leftists will fail to recognize their religion as such because 1: they have a weak understanding of the term religion 2: the investigation of outside sources and the self reflection needed to understand is paridoxically a religious taboo to their religion.

I can’t really overstate how good a job he did with this. This is a very good encapsulation of the core mental biases I see implicit in modernity. Short answer is modernity’s core failure is the inability to see the complexity or texture of life on a human, contextual or biological level. We see the world solely through how the machine can exploit it. We see charts, not the world. Let me know if I explained that well or I should state it in a different way. It maps onto (haha) the idea I developed in my new video called the “MAPP” or “modern, materialist, academic, progressive paradigm”. The MAPP has sort of become a new religion which you’re not allowed to question across academic disciplines. It holds us back from reality in the humanities or STEM. Its proponents are completely hypocritical and dishonest about this though. Like I get society needs a shared moral code and sense of reality to function but just tell me this is your religion, but just don’t pretend it’s all rational and directly true or something. The modernist desire for humans to be perfectly rational robots to all the time is just weird and delusional. I recently made an hour and a half video on this topic so I’ll save it for that.
Larry Sanger@lsanger

Wikipedia's current framework is "GASP": globalist, academic, secular, and progressive. Four of the theses are aimed at correcting, or reforming, this framework. But there are other ways in which Wikipedia needs to be reformed.

@space_homer By will to survive, do you mean will to pass on one's genes or preservation of one's own life? If it's the latter, I think will to power may be a better pathway for spreading one's genes than always prioritizing survival.

Ultimately, Darwin was wrong or at least not fully right. The will to survive is downstream from the will to power, not the other way around.
