Most people quit because they forget that you have to be bad at something before you can be good at it. It's so obvious. You suck. Of course you're not going to win in 2 weeks. But if you can learn to enjoy extended periods of failure, you will make it very, very far in life.

I don’t want a city on Mars. I don’t want AI in every app. I don’t want data centres in space. I don’t want humanoids or flying cars. I want clean water. I want a stable climate. I want bees to survive. And a habitable planet.

Sometimes, an acquaintance will reach out to me to "catch up" casually. There's nothing I like more than a nice wide-ranging conversation with no agenda, so I usually say yes. Then, 30 or 45 minutes in, they try to be very sneaky about this, they bring up -- oh-just-by-the-way -- some commercial request: an intro to so-and-so, maybe I'll consider buying their product, funding their company, whatever, and it's so disappointing: the last half hour was a fake conversation, a plying motion to prepare for some sale, none of the personal interest was real. I understand that there's a certain school of thought in favor of doing this, but I don't like it at all. I much prefer when people reach out straightforwardly with their commercial request and none of the social fakery or time waste.

It took me 35 years to learn this: If you’re half-in, you’re actually all-out. Even 90% in gets you nowhere. There’s something magical in that last little bit. It's where you unlock new levels to the game. Simply because so few have the courage to do it.

We don’t talk enough about how any state or group which is harvesting encrypted packets right now will be able to read those contents once quantum computers arrive. There’s a huge espionage and transparency overhang on any information that is currently “secret” and hasn’t been encrypted using post-quantum cryptography.

very interesting that Claude Code is the ultimate product for vibecoding, and Claude Code's engineers vibecoded Claude Code so hard it became unusable an entire company overdosing on Dogfood

Anthropic: Our best model is available to 50 trusted partners, and of course our employees. OpenAI: our ‘best model’? dude, it’s in codex right now GDM: …I think a lot of people are going to be surprised in the next several months. I shouldn’t say more—coworkers may overhear…

Codex is not like claude code. if you know the limit is going to end, like last 10 to 8%, give an very long run task, and even after the limit got ever, it will continue to do the task until the task was completed. Shout out to @OpenAI team.

I just had DeepSeek V4 find and fix 8 memory leaks that were causing crashes in code written by Claude Opus 4.7. DeepSeek found them all and fixed them in minutes, at a total cost of maybe three pennies. DeepSeek is amazingly good at coding and bug fixing. And it costs almost nothing to use, even the Pro version. Best harness? OpenCode.

The missing layer in successful software development usually isn’t writing code faster but, rather, documenting the reasoning and shared context behind the decisions you made so everyone (including agents) can follow along. Oftentimes, architectural choices live in slack threads or linear tickets or just in someone’s head. This means that the individual may get faster but the team's collective knowledge doesn't compound and the team goes the same speed or slower. A good, multiplayer version of the software development experience would capture the "why" layer, not just execute the "what" faster. This is what 8090’s Software Factory is. A multi-player, AI enabled way to make better software. Try it here: factory.8090.ai

It’s exceptional pressure on @github Every vibe code app, vibe coding platform is putting up an insane pressure on Github infrastructure. I am just surprised that they are not charging these companies. They happily pay to Anthropic and OpenAI, they can pay for GitHub infrastructure too. Great company, great product but pressure is too much at this point. All AI flood is at one direction, GitHub. I guess, this is a big decision time for them. And decision is such a critical thing that no matter what you do, there will be enough people to dislike it or rant about it.

I'm sure by 2028 Google will replace 99% of junior roles with AI. Microsoft, apple, samsung, amazon will all do the same. But people will still think a 9-5 is the safest option.

Something strange is happening in tech. CTOs of billion dollar companies are quitting to take IC roles at Anthropic. Workday CTO -> MTS (Mar 2026) You[.]com CTO -> MTS (Mar 2026) Instagram CTO -> MTS (Jan 2026) Box CTO -> MTS (Dec 2025) Super[.]com CTO -> MTS (July 2025) Adept AI CTO -> MTS (Jan 2025) The mission is that real.

Serious question. For decades, the standard advice was to "pick a niche" and become a highly paid specialist. Now Claude has the combined knowledge of every specialist on earth, instantly available for $20 a month. What exactly are we supposed to tell kids to major in when every technical skill is just a prompt away?
