@Davism_Soupism @icarus62 @darwintojesus So are they just metaphors? Or is it ok in these cases because of 'sin' (protip: bullshit)? No, I do not believe that. I do believe that your magic book is immoral, regardless of whatever vague attempt at 'context' you can muster.

lots of strange reactions to this game. let’s clear some things up: childless men do not have paternal instincts the way that childless women have maternal instincts (we observe this even in the way little girls play vs. little boys). men first experience paternal instincts once they have their own children - and typically, those paternal instincts are only ever felt for their own children, and no one else’s. men are not nurturers. men don’t gush over cute kids in public. men don’t have baby fever. if a man wants to possess a child for any reason other than it being a product of his own lineage, he is likely a predator. and you’d be taking the feminist/radical gender abolitionist position to protest any of the above points. this should explain why a “dad simulator” game marketed to mostly childless men gives people the creeps.

@RansomStoddard1 @BrianNiemeier No one is under the impression that the EU wasn't niche. But anyone could tell that if you'd just adapted the trilogy to film it would have been a greater success than Disney Wars if only because it had an actual beginning, middle and end.

@BrianNiemeier The Heir to the Empire trilogy sold 15 million copies total, so an average of 5 million per book. Solo, the worst performing Disney SW movies sold 42 million tickets. EU fanboys vastly overrated their popularity with the general audience.

@allegiantfaith It was 'discovered' the second two people first exchanged ideas about how best to coexist with one another. Since chimps can do this as well, we can assume it was shared by our common ancestors. So yeah. Before humans had even conceived of gods. Before they could even talk.

Every atheist in the comments: “MoRaliTy ExiSTed BeFoRE ChriSTiAniTy and was DiSCoveREd by OUR AnCeSTorS!!!” Cool story. What exactly did our ancestors discover? What is morality? What are “good” and “bad”? If morality was discovered, not made up, then it’s an object that pre-exists humanity. So, what is it? And where did it come from? I’ll wait.
𝕮𝖔𝖚𝖗𝖆𝖌𝖊𝖔𝖚𝖘 𝕮𝖍𝖗𝖎𝖘 ✝️ 🇺🇸@allegiantfaith

There’s nothing more ridiculous, annoying, and embarrassing than atheists pretending they invented and own morality.

@Davism_Soupism @icarus62 @darwintojesus Individuals may have a personal moral code, but morality is constructed by societies, not individuals. Morality is a society trying to balance individual liberty with societal cohesion. It is possible to construct a hypothetical where 'rape' could be considered a moral option.

@darwintojesus The only reason it would need a god is because in practice it would be impossible to construct and implement for any mortal beings. But we all know gods are hideous narcissists that would never police themselves appropriately, so they cobble basic shit together and say its holy.

Because they wanted Clark to disobey his dad and save him because he could... because hes superman. People thought his dad died in a dumb way but I disagree. Dying to protect his son, his deepest secret, is a way better death than dying to a heart attack. This scene shows that Superman is vulnerable and can be weak in the proper context. He loves and respects his dad so much but knows he could have saved him. Its so conflicting for Clark emotionally. Its a really good scene imo. 🥲

imagine releasing projects like wandavision, tfatws, loki, hawkeye, no way home, shang chi, bp2, gotg3, agatha, thunderbolts, f4… just to end up doing THIS and discredit most of your successful creations just because of a few failures. this is beyond embarrassing for them

Stop trying to “reimagine” everything. No one asked for original stories using a familiar IP as a prop. If you want to bring a game to a new audience, just adapt it. Beat by beat. Scene by scene. That’s literally how you please both sides—new viewers get the story, and fans don’t feel like they’re watching fanfiction with a budget.

Things we know about the Amazon Mass Effect series so far: 🔸It will be an original story set after the events of ME3 🔸Doug Jung (Mindhunter) and Daniel Casey are leading the project 🔸The script is reportedly being rewritten to appeal to a “non-gamer” audience #MassEffect

Does this sound like Genesis? The Australian Aboriginal people (like other cultures around the world) had legends passed down from their ancestors. And many of these legends sound like one is reading Genesis 1–11. They have legends about a global flood, three sons on a raft, a rainbow at the end of the flood, and many other elements similar to the Genesis flood account. They also have legends about a forbidden tree and that the first woman tasted some honey from the tree and death came into the world. Sounds familiar, doesn’t it? There are flood legends in cultures all over the world. We have an exhibit on such flood legends on the third deck of the Ark at the @ArkEncounter attraction. When I went to university, I had a professor who said that the Jews had stories about a flood like the Babylonians. He claimed that it’s obvious the Jews borrowed their stories from the Babylonians. Many seminary professors sadly also teach this secular view of history. But this doesn’t make logical sense, and it certainly doesn’t make biblical sense! If one reads the Babylonian stories, they sound fanciful and not real. But when one reads the Genesis account, it reads as real history with a ship with dimensions that make sense! I would say the Babylonian account is a perversion of the original account which is preserved in Scripture. As people increased on the earth after the flood, they went through an event called the tower of Babel. God judged by giving different languages because of their rebellion, so people then dispersed over the earth. They took the account of the flood and other events about creation and the fall and, over the years, changed them to become the fanciful legends that abound in people groups over the earth.

Oh, and what about Sandal? A dwarven savant in Dragon Age: Origins, the only dwarf we ever see casually enchanting gear despite dwarves having no connection to the Fade. Just casually doing something that, lore-wise, should not even be possible. The kid drops lines like “Enchantment!” and then in Dragon Age 2 he’s found surrounded by frozen darkspawn corpses with zero explanation, implying he can do far more than just enchant items. Then in Dragon Age 2 he also delivers that cryptic prophecy: “Not enchantment… the day will come when they all fall.” People were theorizing he was: • connected to the Titans • some kind of lyrium conduit • a unique dwarf able to use magic • or something even older tied to the Deep Roads And what did BioWare do with him? Absolutely nothing. Just another insanely unique, lore-breaking character with massive implications for dwarves, lyrium, and magic… completely dropped.

I would love to Mass Effect lean into a darker tone. I love playing renegade, but it doesn't narratively fit with Shepard's hero's journey. So what if we played an N7 Agent in the criminal underworld who actually could be corrupt and a bit evil?
