@AlbaneseNYC @PaulDMauro Sure, it's better than absolutely nothing. But the DA will either give him an ACD or let him plead out to a dis con violation. Zero consequences. There is currently no mechanism by which this problem is actually dealt with appropriately.

Because (a) NYPD is short-staffed; (b) There is no means to lock up a chronic like this perp [see here: nytimes.com/2023/04/15/nyr… ] (c). We are going down 75% in jail beds thanks to the NYC Dems. A response time of 15 seconds would've changed nothing here.

The bodega owner shot & killed in Manhattan by someone who has been harassing staff & stealing from store for over a year was banned from the place but continued to enter the establishment. The owner who was killed said he gave up calling police bc they showed up 3 to 4 hours later

@RepJasonCrow Hey moron, military pilots have to log a certain number of flight hours regardless of who is onboard at the time. This doesn't cost any extra "taxpayer dollars" (as if you give a fuck about that anyway).

City Council District 3: Vote Tuesday for @LindseyBoylan, the fighter the district deserves! Lindsey had the guts to stand up to the most powerful man in NYS, when so many stayed silent. Working families need more leaders with that kind of courage. Let's elect her to City Council.

Deed theft is an insidious crime that demands a whole-of-government response. Last week we took action with @NYCMayor to launch the Office of Deed Theft Prevention. Now the State must do its part. I’m proud the @NYCCouncil Progressive Caucus is calling on @GovKathyHochul and the State Legislature to act. We’re in a race against time. Not one more homeowner should lose their home.

POV: You’re a uniformed NYPD cop assigned to the most dangerous subway system in the country. Your job isn’t theoretical. It’s not a panel discussion. It’s a mission to in real time, prevent crime, respond to crime and disorder in order to keep millions moving safely every single day. You spot a disorderly male, combative, irrational, escalating. The kind of behavior every cop knows can turn violent in seconds. You step in, give lawful orders, try to remove him to protect everyone else on that train. He refuses. He resists. He fights. So you do what you were trained to do, what the academy taught you., what the job demands in that moment, you use the necessary force to overcome resistance. You deploy closed fist strikes, controlled. targeted and effective. The situation ends. No injuries. The system keeps moving. Fast forward two years. You’re the one in handcuffs. You are now charged by the Bronx DA with Attempted Assault and Official Misconduct for doing the job exactly how you were asked and trained to do. What is your unions response ? A statement so weak it might as well have been written by your prosecutor: “You are entitled to due process.” That’s it. No defense of the job. No defense of the reality. No backbone. And now the question isn’t just about one cop it’s about every cop watching this play out in real time. Why would anyone step in? Why would anyone take action? Why would anyone risk their life, their career, their freedom, their family for a disorderly person who refuses to follow the rules everyone else lives by? Then the same public turns around and asks: “Why does it feel less safe?” Because you can’t demand proactive policing while punishing it after the fact. Hesitation is replacing action. Because every cop now runs the same calculation: Is this worth my life, job or my freedom? Policing in NYC isn’t just thankless it’s Un winnable. Do nothing, you’re criticized. Do something, you’re criminalized. And the result? The cops become the anti heroes outcasted, second guessed, and abandoned, while still being expected to hold the entire system together. You don’t get less crime when you handcuff the people trying to stop it. You just get less cops willing to try.

@SecWar @KidRock @USArmy Umm, excuse me, sir. But aren’t we a war you started? I mean, if we’re being honest, we’re safer when your with Kid Rock than we are when you’re in your office… But the lack of self awareness is gobsmacking.

I am heartbroken by the senseless killing of Abdul Saleh, a beloved East Village deli worker and cherished member of our community. We’ve got to take a holistic approach to gun violence, which is why, in addition to common sense gun safety legislation, I introduced the PROSPER Act to fund community-based violence interruption programs. I’m keeping Abdul’s family in my thoughts and will keep pushing for stronger protections for bodega workers and safer communities.

@QueensCrapper Using this clown's logic why even have a park at all. They could use it for real estate! (In fact, many don't know that entire neighborhoods were razed to the ground to create Central Park in the first place).

Nope, this is totally wrong. Sorry. I just read the decision and it literally has no connection to this case at all. In fact, this decision will have absolutely no bearing on any police operations going forward because it was a trial court issue revolving around the failure of the district attorney to bring in testimony to establish the circumstances of an I-Card based collar. The Court said that only having the detective who issued the I-Card testify was not sufficient to establish that PC existed when patrol collared the perp. In other words, if the DA had brought in the patrol guys to testify, there would likely be absolutely no issue here whatsoever. It's a technical trial/hearing failure and absolutely nothing else.

My latest substack article is about a new court ruling in regards to how police communicate information to each other, and how that will affect criminal cases going forward. open.substack.com/pub/thesalgrec…

Wondering if all the @Republicans leaders who rightly thanked the swift action of law enforcement for saving lives last night, will join the push for sensible #GunReformNOW to address the unholy amount of guns accessible in this country Everything is deadlier with guns: -Anger -Hate -Depression -Domestic & Political Violence

And it will do nothing from stopping the actual “super speeders” who race through NYC streets unlicensed in unregistered, uninsured vehicles or vehicles with fake plates. When did employees of city agencies become activists pushing for legislation that is based off serious due process and constitutional violations ?

🚨 NEW YORK CITY COP HAS 547 SPEEDING TICKETS 😳 AND THEY’RE DOING NOTHING 🚨 This is Officer James Giovansanti, 120th Precinct, Staten Island. His white RAM 1500 has been caught on camera 547 TIMES since 2022 blasting through school zones and red lights. 187 tickets in 2025 alone….that’s one every other day. He owes $36,650 in fines. NYPD’s response? “Off-duty. No discipline.” While they ticket YOU for 5 over. A guy sworn to protect us is endangering KIDS daily… and keeps the badge and the truck. This isn’t a “bad apple.” This is the system protecting its own while the rest of us pay the price. Mayor Mamdani called it “unacceptable”, then crickets. WHERE IS THE ACCOUNTABILITY?! RT if you’re sick of the two-tiered justice. Tag @NYPD @ZohranKMamdani

SUPER Weird you’re having a hard time comprehending this law is intended to push a product that will be backed by government funding. Middle class pays for this product and the poor will get this product through NYC funding. A product that only slows the vehicle down but not the person driving it as they can easily just drive another vehicle. If traffic safety was the problem we are looking to solve it would be installing speed bumps in and around every school as well as identifying and repossessing unregistered, uninsured vehicles as well as holding those who drive around unlicensed accountable. The law has a revenue based agenda masquerading behind the false promise of “safety”
Jessie Singer@JessieSingerNYC

SUPER weird you don’t know this but… The purpose of a law is to discourage a behavior that could cause harm. The purpose of a fine is to encourage people to follow the law. The problem is that the fines are not discouraging the harmful behavior. Thus the need for a new law.
