@CartinLisa @michaeljknowles You should not pray to them. You can ask them, but not by getting on your knees and bowing to them as is considered reverence reserved for deities or royalty.

You’re not honoring Mary the mother of Jesus by praying to her to pray for you. Jesus’s own words in the Bible say that prayer should only be to God the Father through Christ His Son. “No one comes to the Father, but by Me”.. not “No one comes to the Father, but by Me unless they want an even better chance then they can through My Mom to Me then to the Father)

Sat frustrated in PD today: Science of Hope. All about kids not feeling they belong or have purpose. No real solutions presented. No acknowledgement of need for spiritual life or community. Not even as an outlier idea. Just acceptance of student hopelessness. I don’t get it.

The school day should be shorter. Way too much wasted time. I understand parents need the babysitting. New plan. School til 1, then all kids must be involved in an extra-curricular til... u name the time. Play a sport, play chess, learn to play an instrument!

As Florida Governor, I will *mandate* that all public school students come to school wearing a uniform. For boys, a white polo, khakis, and a belt. For girls, knee-length dresses or pant suits. Strong schools are only possible with order and discipline.

A coach just emailed the school reminding us that he asked us to come to him with any grades concerns at the start of the season and that if he is surprised by any bad grades on the report card he'd be checking into if we followed grading and communications guidelines

This is false doctrine. I support everyone’s freedom to believe as they choose, but I do not support people within my own religion lying about it.

I've never in my life seen anybody with ash on their forehead. I didn't know this was a thing, but a restaurant or any company has the rights to have You dress a certain way or even look a certain way, there are dress codes... You can take a religious holiday off... Should of just told your employer You can't work that day. I don't want to see somebody with dirt on their face when they're working serving me food...

She’s smart, making your own spices make allot of sense and saves a ton of money. But how old were you when you found out that garlic powder is just ground up garlic peels?

@kareem_carr Absolutely ridiculous take. Being a kind person concerned for your students has nothing in common with wokeness. My experience in grad school with woke professors showed me that to be woke means to be hateful and self-centered.

Being a college instructor makes you woke, but not for the reasons people think. It's because students come in all kinds. Some are trans, some are gay, some are Black, some are Jewish, some are foreign, some are rural. Some have disabilities, housing insecurity, mental health challenges. And yes, some are Christian and some are Republican. Over the weeks and months of class time, things happen. Parents die. Grandparents die. Students fall pregnant mid-semester. You aren't their parent, and they aren't your kids. But you're sort of their parent, and they're sort of your kids. They're young people figuring things out. Your job is to nurture their intellectual development. But they're young and human, which means they can't cleanly separate the intellectual from the emotional. So neither can you. An encouraging word, a moment of sympathy for loss or struggle. That's part of the job too. The assessments must and should be objective, but to be a truly effective educator, everything before that can't be. Each person needs something different to be fully their best. So you end up a little woke. You realize that frameworks and procedures can't be one-size-fits-all. They need to accommodate the full spectrum of humanity, because humanity isn't all one thing.

@Catholicizm1 @JamesDueck I had a non-religious friend. One day she whispered to me, "He's been going to Catholic Mass on Sunday's with a friend. I don't want to discourage him, but it's weird." I envied her twelve year old son. It was a beautiful church.

My neighbors raised their kids without religion. Really nice family. Their 15 yr old son just asked if he could come to Midnight Mass with us. I’m kind of shocked.

@Ravious101 I would very pleasantly remove the door to their room, remove electronics from their room, and in the calmest tone I could find, I would remind them that people who enjoy privileges also contribute. The soonest they could get their door back would be a couple of days.

It’s gift giving time and let me tell you something you’ll hate to hear. Get your child’s teachers a gift. Preferably gift cards even if it’s $10.00. Trust me. Teachers will NEVER say this out loud, but there is a bias toward students who give nice gifts. (And for any educator saying not true, I’m going to question it.) If you want to assure your needs or concerns are met - buy for the Assistant Principal and Principal as well. Remember teachers spend more waking hours with your child than you do during the school year. If that’s not worthy of a holiday gesture, what is? AND, if your child is the class handful, you really need to get the teacher a nice present.

@HazelAppleyard Honestly I am a better mother with the one I had at 40 than the ones I had in my 20s. Priorities change. It’s more fun, too. And built-in babysitters. 😉
