Arguments about fairness are only relevant if fairness can actually be achieved, which it cannot. And if you really want to talk about fair, you have to look at how young people are getting completely fucked over by this system, being taxed to hell and the money been given directly to millionaires. Utterly absurd.

Means-test pensions at £1,000,000 assets and remove the triple lock. Tie pension increases to inflation only. This is perfectly reasonable, but if you dare to suggest it then people will comment suggesting you should be sent to Ukraine and die in a trench.
James Baxter@Bax31James

@Landeur I think pensions have to maintained for those who already paid into the scheme in full …which went out the door to pay pensions to those already in receipt. We can’t just declare it can’t be paid! We need to fix the broad public purse first then it becomes affordable.

@publicenemy2024 Do the pilots and their families get to breathe different air to the rest of us. They would be really stupid to spray their own family.

Come the fuck on! A nice sunny day, and they're doing this over SE Kent today! I picked up loads of flak a few weeks back for telling people this is definitely happening, with loads of people offering bollocks explanations! FFS, how much evidence do you need?

@SandyofSuffolk I was being tongue in cheek 😁 but not only is their food quality exceptional, their ethics are almost unmatched. So if you can afford to care about the environment, sustainability, avoiding GM foods (incl in animal feed, animal welfare, fair treatment of farmers, you shop there

I don't actually understand why anybody would shop at Waitrose. You can buy the same quality and products in every other supermarket, but cheaper. 🤔

Why should @waitrose customers pay a premium to cover your shoplifting costs when you fire a bloke who actually wanted to stop a shoplifter?!
Patrick Christys@PatrickChristys

So a bloke who worked for @waitrose for 17 years tackled a shoplifter in Clapham, the same area we’ve seen rampant lawlessness … and Waitrose FIRED him?! Disgraceful. They should thank him & give him a pay rise. What message is Waitrose sending to employees…and shoplifters?!

@TeagueRoger But you can't get more than a shed for £100,000 today. £100,000 today is a 20-25% deposit on a family four-bed. In suburbs of large or university cities, perhaps as low as 10%. Utterly disingenuous.

@TeagueRoger @boot15_vu Max has a point to be fair, UK tax payers pay a fortune and get absolutely nothing for it. Kids should not have to pay for degrees, houses should be affordable and all persons who’ve contributed to society should get a state pension, it’s not difficult.

A lot of people don’t seem to realise they’re going to be old too someday. Do they think they’re immune to ageing? I’d love to be a fly on the wall when it’s their turn to be ‘pensioners’ and they have to read all the callous “selfish old farts” comments. Karma may take a long time but it never forgets an address.

SACKED after 17 years… for stopping a thief. A Waitrose worker in Clapham Junction has lost his job after intervening to stop someone stealing Easter eggs. Walker Smith, 54, had given 17 years of service only to be shown the door for trying to do the right thing. No warning. No loyalty. Just gone. What message does that send to staff and to every other would be shoplifter wanting an easy target. Do your job… but don’t actually protect the business. Waitrose have ABSOLUTELY no loyalty to their staff they are quite happy to dispense of Loyal partners like yesterdays rubbish.

The same people that are telling me I should be ok with a Pakistani/bangladeshi family that haven never worked with 5 kids getting more in extra benefits than I earn in a year are apparently against pensioners getting a measly £12k per year after working their whole lives
