The buck stops with the Prime Minister: his contempt for ordinary people who made great sacrifices last Christmas in following the rules could not be clearer. He is not fit to lead and should resign.

Whilst attention is focused on Allegra Stratton’s tearful resignation, only minutes ago, the Tories have forced through Nationality & Borders Bill that will cause immense human suffering to some of the most vulnerable people in society. Shameful. Our country is better than this.

The Prime Minister has lost all moral authority to impose new restrictions and lead the fight against Covid. Both he and his team have been caught out not only breaching the rules, but laughing about it. The best thing he can do now is resign.

Today, I will be voting against the #NationalityAndBordersBill. A dangerous and pernicious piece of legislation which breaches our international obligations, will put more lives at risk and do nothing to help solve the international crisis around the movement of people.
