This book was written in 1995 about computers...not AI. People make the same obvious mistakes again and again in their predictions. The future is hard to predict but human beings catastrophizing is as predictable as a sunrise.

Only one chance in this lifetime… Like watching sunset at the beach from the most foreign seat in the cosmos, I couldn’t resist a cell phone video of Earthset. You can hear the shutter on the Nikon as @Astro_Christina is hammering away on 3-shot brackets and capturing those exceptional Earthset photos through the 400mm lens. @AstroVicGlover was in window 3 watching with @Astro_Jeremy next to him. I could barely see the Moon through the docking hatch window but the iPhone was the perfect size to catch the view…this is uncropped, uncut with 8x zoom which is quite comparable to the view of the human eye. Enjoy.

We already live in an age of unimaginable abundance. If you told someone from a few hundred years ago that machines would harvest all the food, clean all the clothes, and wash all the dishes, they would struggle to imagine what other jobs could possibly be left for humans.

It isn't a fallacy to note that the media is prone to this kind of panic - headlines generate clicks - and that we should adjust expectations accordingly. Is it absolute proof that Mythos isn't going to wreck everything? Obviously not. But it's a mature approach to realise that not every scary story makes sense. (And there's lots about this one that raise red flags.)
