Should the CBC be defunded completely?
Is there a need for a gov't news organization? What about a channel to create content specifically for Canada.
The CBC has been around for various political parties.
Many people now feel it has become just a high priced arm of the Liberal left.
Is it time to defund the CBC?

While Ukrainians die terrible deaths defending their home, democracy and freedom, you choose this? Outstanding. Here is what happens if the US, Canada, Germany and others stop aid. #1 Ukrainians will be deported to the farthest end of russia and replaced with russians. #2 Ukrainian men will be forced to join russian forces to threaten and invade the next ex-Imperial russian territories. Instead of the front being east Ukraine, you’ll have successfully moved it west. #3 atrocities will escalate. Children and women raped, murdered and buried in mass graves exactly as russia has done in Bucha. #4 the once bright future for Ukraine winning the fight against systemic corruption will be dead. Corruption is how people survive in an imperial russian dictatorship. USSR corruption is bloody hard to combat - I bump into it regularly, but I am surrounded by Ukrainians who nuke it. We’re winning fight. But it will be for nothing if russia wins. #5 Ukrainian resources and environment will be destroyed, pillaged. See the dam they blew up and the resulting devastation. #6 All resistance fighters will be rounded up, tortured and killed. russians like to cut captured Ukrainian men’s cut off genitals and heads while they scream in agony. (Congrats on this one by the way - supporting a nation who does this is peak dystopia.) I could go on but I think even you will get the point. You have chosen to ridicule a nation living through hell. Like the nasty bully in school who laughs at the poor hungry kid whose family can’t afford new shoes. Officers were at the Eaton’s Centre to respond to a protest where threats were directed to a member of the public, not to police. The victim chose not to pursue the matter. TPA members are working each day to ensure protests do not escalate & we are grateful for their efforts.

COP28 is now on the verge of complete failure. The world desperately needs to phase out fossil fuels as quickly as possible, but this obsequious draft reads as if OPEC dictated it word for word. It is even worse than many had feared. It is “Of the Petrostates, By the Petrostates and For the Petrostates.” It is deeply offensive to all who have taken this process seriously. There are 24 hours left to show whose side the world is on: the side that wants to protect humanity’s future by kickstarting the orderly phase out of fossil fuels or the side of the petrostates and the leaders of the oil and gas companies that are fueling the historic climate catastrophe. In order to prevent COP28 from being the most embarrassing and dismal failure in 28 years of international climate negotiations, the final text must include clear language on phasing out fossil fuels. Anything else is a massive step backwards from where the world needs to be to truly address the climate crisis and make sure the 1.5°C goal doesn’t die in Dubai.
