Please let’s be clear, this man, in my opinion is one of the most patriotic Nigerian of our time. If you care to know, patriotism is not measured by rumors or headlines, it is measured by consistency over time. If anyone truly doubts his commitment to Nigeria, the task is simple. Go back in time, google, and look at his public record. At moments when our national unity was under threat, when the integrity of Nigeria was questioned, he has consistently spoken in defense of our country. That is not selective patriotism. That is conviction. Yes, I say this as a northerner and a Muslim. There have been times when some of his comments about the North were difficult to swallow. But truth is not always comfortable. And importantly, he has never been one-sided. He speaks just as firmly to the SE, SS, to the SW, and to any group or individual whose actions undermine unity or justice. That consistency is what matters. An ambassador is not someone who tells people what they want to hear. An ambassador is someone who represents their nation with conviction, clarity, and courage. Someone who can engage across divides, build relationships, and stand firmly for their country on the global stage. From what many of us have observed, he is a relational figure who connects across regions, across cultures, and across political lines. It is precisely what diplomacy requires. I do not know him personally, and I have never met him. But based on his public record, I have no doubt that wherever he is posted, he will fly the Nigerian flag with pride and represent our country with strength.
