@Dapper_Det Our cops had concerns about body cameras roughly 15 years ago when we were all given them. Since then I have promoted multiple times and have been the IA guy. Cameras catch some misconduct, but they overwhelmingly show cops doing right.

Actual Call: At 6:25 am I got a call in reference to a truck doing donuts in a parking lot. I pull in & see a truck just coming out of a spin. The truck sees me & comes to a complete stop. I walk up & its two 19 yr old boys. I said "Boys what we doing?". The driver said "Just having some fun. Am I in trouble?" I replied "Fellas, cookin up donuts in a parking lot is gonna attract a cop 100% of the time." They both laughed & the driver said "I'll go get u some if u don't write me a ticket.". I told them I was working on my beach body so I'd pass on the donuts. They laughed & I told them to get home safe. I'd be lying if I didn't admit that my inner 19 yr old self wanted to do a spin or two on that pretty snow covered parking lot before I left.👮‍♂️🚔

@BuzzPatterson I would do the same thing, except I have not had to in over two decades because I don't get stopped or interact with police while off duty. I would be embarassed to be stopped by or encounter my officers or officers from other agencies while off duty in the DFW area.

If I encounter law enforcement and I’m carrying, my immediate reaction is to verbally identify that I have a weapon and I’m keeping my hands away from my waist. Because I’m responsible.

In all my years flying USAF airlift around the world, including combat (Grenada & Bosnia) and special operations (DELTA Force and SEALs) some of the weirdest shit I’ve ever carried: - the 82nd Airborne on the first night of the Grenada invasion - the remains of 5 US servicemen who were killed in North Vietnam during the war - 50,000 vials of AIDs infected blood from Zaire to the CDC - a generator, one effing generator, to Nouadhibou, Mauritania (where we were refueled with tainted gas and had to divert to Dakar) - the Chadian military with a sacrificed goat for “flight safety” (US Customs & Agriculture loved that on our return to the US) - the Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders (that was fun!) - a plane full of DEA & CIA procured high potency drugs from India - a deceased WWII vet who wanted to be buried on Kwajalein - a plane full of drunk German mayors with an open bar (separate story coming soon) - bombs and missiles for the attack on Libya and Gadhafi - nukes - dropping the navy SEALS and their boats over the ocean - Bob Hope and USO Tour - presidential limousines - Joe Biden - Some of the best aircrews the US has ever produced! That’s just off the top of my head.
