So why did Jasmine Crockett head out to California to campaign with Becerra before she did a joint event with Talarico after the March Primary? Crockett and Becerra never overlapped in Congress.

@AngelaBelcamino I think you are going to see an underwhelming turnout from black Democrats because they seemed pretty angry that Talarico replaced Crockett. They understand that if James wins, the Democrats might view this as the new winning strategy and start doing it nation-wide.

James Talarico is getting a lot of media attention lately, and Democrats seem convinced he could flip a Senate seat in Texas. Does he actually have a real chance to win?

For my Broward County friends, please read this article. Because Republicans carved up Broward into new and illegal districts, decisions need to be made now by those intending to run. I know @RepDWStweets. I have watched her work and lead. There is no better candidate for this district. While I understand the anger of the black community over potential loss of representation, that anger should be at those who created this district. debbiewassermanschultz.com/frontpage/2026…

@EricMGarcia The numbers show that multiple demographic groups support her, not just Black people. Yet some people in these replies are acting like only Black people are dictating whether she runs? Kamala's actually pretty popular, and people on here have a tough time acknowledging that.

Hardly the first person who has said this, but Democrats have the same split Republicans had with Trump in 2023: Democratic leaders, elected officials and fundraisers want to move on from Kamala Harris. But the base (that is, Black voters) still want her to run.

@conorjrogers There was polling that showed Crockett either within range or tied (or even slightly ahead of Paxton, if I recall correctly - might be wrong). So I imagine it would be competitive if she were in it. For whatever strange reason people like you act like that data never existed.

If Clyburn’s seat is removed, Democrats should immediately announce South Carolina will lose its primary position. We should not boost my home state’s economy with preferred status if this is how we’re treated.

Breaking: South Carolina GOP Gov. Henry McMaster is expected to announce a special session on redistricting, teeing up the state legislature to pass a 7-0 GOP gerrymander. w/ @AlecAHernandez + confirming earlier reports. politico.com/news/2026/05/1…

@crumblinsaltine @groove_sdc Jasmine ran a bad campaign, partly due to timing and partly due to strategy. Kamala ran a good campaign with some things that could have been different in hindsight.

A huge reason why we’ve lost things like the VRA is that institutions like the CBC have spent ungodly amounts of political capital attacking anti-racist leftists for talking about the economy. Bernie polls at 90% with Dem voters and 80% with black voters, what does this achieve?
Vincent Evans@VinceEvans

The Supreme Court decided Callais on April 29th.   Since then, Black political representation has been under direct assault across the South.   And I haven’t heard a mumbling word from @BernieSanders.   I checked both his X accounts — silent.   I checked his Instagram — nothing.   I checked his Senate website — crickets.   At this point I’m starting to get worried. Has anybody checked on Senator Sanders?   Because Black political power is under attack and somehow we can’t seem to run him down.   If y’all know somewhere else to check, let me know so we can get word to him.

@Huey_Freeman_X @phoenixrisng821 Every Republican and two Dem senators (Manchin and Sinema) blocked it. Biden and Kamala campaigned for it in Atlanta, and Joe even got pushback for saying Senators obstructing were aligning with Bull Conner. They were willing to carve out the filibuster. That's the fuller context

@phoenixrisng821 One of the things I’ll never forget during the 2020 election is Black voters doing the impossible and gifting the democrats a Blue Georgia, 2 senators and the majority just to be told by liberals “I don’t know” and prioritizing infrastructure over our voting rights

You hear the silence of Bernie Sanders and leftists? Black voters could never afford to splinter their votes & move like White leftists in protest voting. Any policy gains we have seen is due to us voting together in mass. "You move, we move. Just like that."

One reason KH is such a poor politician is she never owned who she really is nor told anyone her true thoughts about anything. Obama owned growing up in a multicultural household, for instance. And JO is not running away from his belief that both parties are corrupt.

@JosephWMiner @speechboy71 He messaged his Israel stance better than Crockett, but they were largely similar. Talarico had the major donors, sitting Senators, news outlets, and the most well known Dem consultants. He was always the establishment candidate, but lefties convinced themselves that he wasn't

@speechboy71 I don’t know if I would describe Talarico as the establishment-ish candidate. Most lefties liked him more because he’s more skeptical of Israel.

Michael A. Cohen (NOT TRUMP’S FORMER FIXER)
The problem with this argument is that Platner beating Mills and potentially besting Collins is a unique case (so far). The establishment- ish candidate won in the Texas primary. Establishment picks have or will win nominations in Ohio, Alaska & NC. Even in Massachusetts, Markey looks poised to prevail over the challenge from Moulton. Michigan could go like Maine but if it does it’ll be because of the quirkiness of a three person race. If anything one of the interesting things about where Democrats are post-2024 is they haven’t really gone full Tea Party like Republicans did post 2008
bryan metzger@metzgov

Graham Platner defeating Susan Collins in November would have all sorts of interesting downstream effects beyond just Senate margins. It would prompt a rethinking among Democrats about the types of candidates they recruit and the types of campaigns they run.

Given how Harris lost, it’s kind of shocking that she doesn’t even mention the economy but still does what every Democrat who has recently lost an election does: leaning on credentialism instead of focusing on what you’re going to give people to improve their economic situation.
Politics & Poll Tracker 📡@PollTracker2024

CNN: Kamala on why she is considering launching another bid for the presidency in 2028 “I served for four years being a heartbeat away from the presidency of the United States. I spent countless hours in my West Wing office, footsteps away from the Oval Office. I spent countless hours in the Oval Office, in the Situation Room. I know what the job is. And I know what it requires.” cnn.com/2026/04/10/pol…

@itslexbytheway This take is old and tired. Some black ppl hold traditional values in certain areas. That doesn't necessarily mean "conservative." Black ppl also tend to be more liberal on things like economics, immigration, and the social safety net than other groups, but no one mentions that.
