For years I criticized and warned that the left’s cancel culture and war on free speech was going to be deleterious. It stifled speech, and I talked about the right doing this to the left eventually, because obviously.  This is apparently their revenge. But I never imagined the PRESS, media companies, free speech arbiters like news networks would help in the project. I’m not mad at MAGA. They told us they were going to do this. I’m mad at media. If the PRESS won’t defend free speech, who can we count on?? Shame on ABC, and CBS, and any other purported news entities that want our trust, or care about the First Amendment.

Kimmel explicitly lied. That’s it. He’s been making Trump jokes for years. What got him canned was lying about a crime. That’s a violation of the broadcast license the FCC issues. He could have said it on YouTube. You can’t say it on public airwaves.

With Kimmel getting canned I’m seeing lots of people talking about the hypocrisy of cancel culture. To me Cancel culture is when people go out of their way to dig up old tweets, videos etc looking for dirt on somebody they don’t like in an effort to get them fired. Like if Kimmel got canceled for shit he did on the Man Show that would be cancel culture. But when a person says something that a ton of people find offensive, rude, dumb in real time and then that person is punished for it that’s not cancel culture. That is consequences for your actions
