We're pleased to share that the OFSTED report from the visit on 5th and 6th June has now been published. It recognises Kings as “a very happy school where pupils learn and achieve well.”
The report confirms that Kings “continues to be a good school.”

Really @teacherhead And because? Having worked with Christine Gilbert, I know she is someone of the utmost integrity, fierce independence of mind & with the highest sense of moral purpose. Sometimes X/Twitter encourages binary debates. I disagree with your comments on this issue.

@HarryBrighouse1 So sad to read this news. Tim has been a hero of mine since the Oxfordshire days, then Birmingham. I was lucky enough to work with him again during the London Challenge days and at DfE after that. He was a towering force and an inspiration to a generation of educators.

This is formal but here goes. The family of Sir Tim Brighouse are very sad to announce that Tim died in the John Radcliffe Hospital today after a short illness. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and a towering figure in the word of education. 1/

@Samfr We have spent 30 years measuring between school variation across UK. We should (imo) have spent the last 20 years as vigorously measuring (and thus tackling) within school variation. Academics @dylanwiliam @MichaelFullan1 @steve_munby @AlmaHarris1 & others saying this for ages

In terms of education policy here it's worth noting that our between school variation is lower than average and our within school variation is higher. That's probably what we need to focus on.

In my view this is more true now than it was in the past. The one word judgement has had its day.

I’ve always believed every school is ‘Outstanding’ & ‘Inadequate’ at the same time on the same day depending where you look. Schools are complex & can’t be summed up in a 1 word judgement. I’d much prefer inspections which say ‘What Works Well’ and ‘Even Better If’ #Time4Change

As one West Yorkshire secondary HT of an Outstanding school told me recently 'If they came in the next day we would have been inadequate. Definitely inadequate'.

25 years ago New Labour were elected into power.
Ten weeks later they brought forward a HUGE White Paper, Excellence in Schools, covering all parts of school reform.
I've read back over it today & it's quite something!

Just watched news about pupil attendance at school and anxiety following lockdown. Sir Kevan Collins recommended a big injection of recovery funds to support pupils. This was rejected by gov and he resigned. He’s not an ‘I told you so’ person but I bet that’s what he’s thinking!
