it’s funny how the most foundational difference between this antique advice and modern best practice for electric shock is “electrocute the victim again (with an AED)”

Women dying in childbirth ceased being a statistically significant thing in 1940s when penicillin was invented. A practicing obstetrician is unlikely to have ever had an instance of conflict between mother & babies life, because thats not how modern medicine works.

In the US, hospitals assign 2 teams to each birth. 1 team for the mother, 1 team for the baby.
In emergency situations it's almost never an either/or. The baby is delivered and handed off to their care team while the mother's team stays dedicated to her.

@abigailsolutely "In public"
A 9 year old should pretend, but they should be learning an appropriate separation between pretend time and real-life time.
If we're in public, it's not time to be a cat, it's time to participate in/attend to something real. We should dress for that thing.

@franmanifesto Yes, because in a cesarean section (which is the solution for life-threatening emergencies in the third trimester of pregnancy, when an obstetrician (as opposed to a gynecologist) would be involved), the surgeon deals with the mother’s health and the obstetrician the baby’s.

@GreenAmber10k @U4EUh__ @DOSKUUN @jasmineeazj It’s a statement on how the radfems are, at least from the perspective of all their theory, state simply that the impossible cannot be done.
Now, whether it is in truth impossible is another thing entirely. We can’t grow birds’-wings, yet last month 4 people circled the moon.
