Yesterday, we kicked off our very first #PEISCommunityOfPractice meeting under the #PublicEngagementInfrastructureStrengthening project, funded by @wellcometrust. It was inspiring to hear powerful insights on nutrition and climate. Excited for what’s next! @Liz_Kimani @ifjad_
Institute for Food Justice and Development@ifjad_

This afternoon, @aphrc hosted the very first webinar session under the #PEISCommunityOfPractice. IFJAD was honored to facilitate these discussions, focusing on "Nutrition Through the Lifecycle" and its linkages with #climatechange. It was an incredible privilege to set the pace for this important space of knowledge-sharing, collaboration, and collective action. Today’s conversation highlighted the fact that that nutrition and climate change are deeply interconnected, and tackling them together is key to building resilient and just food systems. 💡🌱 A big thank you to APHRC for hosting, and to all participants for joining us in making history with this inaugural session! 🚀 #Nutrition #PEISProject #ClimateChange #FoodJustice #CommunityOfPractice

Why are we always expected to choose the lesser evil? Who said we can’t have visionary, capable, ethical leaders and choose the best among them? We deserve more than bare-minimum leadership. We deserve more than “at least he’s better than the other one.” Let’s stop settling!✊🏿

This #WorldEnvironmentDay, APHRC reaffirms its commitment to advancing evidence-informed solutions at the intersection of climate change, health, and equity. Through the Visibilize4ClimateAction in East Africa Project and the work of the Environment, Climate Change, and Health Unit, the Center supports efforts to generate and use data that highlights the impact of climate change on vulnerable communities, particularly in urban informal settlements. Our focus remains on ensuring that research informs policy and practice for sustainable and inclusive climate action in the region. #WorldEnvironmentDay2025 #ClimateChange #HealthAndClimate #ClimateAction #EnvironmentalHealth #APHRCResearch #WeAreAfrica #Visibilize4ClimateAction @CIFOR_ICRAF @PelumKenya @LaikipiaCountyG @wellcometrust @Zero_Hunger_Ke @SokhnaT37994755 @Liz_Kimani @dia_diama @Kathina_Mwalia @RatemoJuliet @DMdiarafa @amveyange @CKyobutungi

Listening to @BillGates articulating the tremendous progress made on the African continent over the last 25 years. It's quite fascinating to hear the meticulously documented progress in health and agriculture by contributions from the @gatesfoundation .....

..... It's hard to reconcile that with the constant demonisation of the foundation's work on the continent. Of course there have been missteps but overall my take is that the foundation has been a force for good ✌️

Huge announcement at the event: a huge chunk of that $200b (~50%) will be spent on the African continent. How do we maximise this moment for the continent's benefit??

I'm delighted to have co-authored this critical paper alongside other African global health experts (@seyeabimbola and @DrEmeruemJnr ) on how Africa's health systems can adapt and build resilience following the abrupt USAID cuts.
